Resumen
SUMMARY
The present research work was oriented to the preliminary determination of the phytoconstituents by means
of a coloration reaction, precipitation and spectrophotometric quantification of total flavonoids present in the
leaves of Bixa orellana (achiote). The species was collected in Huanuco. The methods used are those
described in the MINSAP Ramal Standard for crude drugs. The sample consisted of 2kg of the leaf of the
bixa orellana (achiote). As results are within the permissible ranges of this. The extract was prepared by
reflux, which was determined: phytochemical screening proposed by Olga Loock (alkaloids, triterpernes /
steroids, anthocyanidins, flavonoids, saponins and tannins.), Likewise the total flavonoids expressed as
quercetin were quantified by UV / spectrophotometry. Visible at 256 nm (wavelength of maximum
absorption), being at an average percentage of 18.25%. The results obtained were evaluated in the Microsoft
Office program Microsoft Excel 2010 to carry out the corresponding statistical analysis, concluding that
active metabolites were found such as flavonoids, tannins, triterpin and steroids and the amount of flavonoids
in 2 kg of the leaves was determined. Dried bixa de Orellana (Achiote) with the VISIBLE UV
SPECTROPHOTOMETRY method gave us as a result 14.8mg / ml of total flavonoids expressed in
quercetin.
