Looking after elephants in a zoo

Elephants love (0) a bath and their regular daily care includes a two-hour shower and brush
in summer, and a dust bath in winter, to (54) remove old skin. Their feet must also be looked at
every day as stones get stuck (55) between their toes. That’s the easy (56) part Their eating
habits, however, demand a lot more attention, according to zoo owner Michael Booth, who (57)
then described the elephant as an enormous fire that (58) needs lots of fuel. This is (59)
why elephants in the wild (60) s pend most of their time eating. The ones in Booth's zoo eat
large (61) weigths of vegetables and fruit but their favorite food is bread. It (62) cost about £20
a day to feed a fully-grown elephant.

A male elephant is roughly the same size as a bus, so it isn't a good (63) idea to make an
elephant angry!.

Nakia Letang is an admissions director at Fairfield University. Nakia is a young hardworking woman. This
is an interview her achievements.
What is your Job about†
Choosing new students is the main function of my work. I read student's
applications and plan my travel calendar and events. Another part of my job is what
I call customer service: educating parents and future students about college and
the admissions process. You have to be an active person and really like talking to

Do you work students from everywhere†
I work in New York City and eleven states. I work two groups: home - schooled students and those from the
Community Scholars Program; these are teenagers who live in the city and are the first family members to
attend college.
What is your role in the admission decision process†
We read applications from our own area because we know the students' schools can give a complete
evaluation of the application. Each career officer decides on the best candidates from their area. We consider
mainly their academic level, but also what those students bring to the college community. If I’m not sure, I'll
have a second admissions career officer take a look, and if were still not sure, I'll meet the entire admissions
office group.
Can you talk to the students who send applications†
Like many of the students I invite, I'm the first person in my family to go to college. I tell students my story and let
them know I understand their situation. I convince them that they can get into college and make it through.
