Abstract
Water has a high specific heat capacity it absorbs a lot of heat before it begins to get
hot. You may not know how that affects you, but the specific heat of water has a huge
role to play in the Earth's climate and helps determine the habitability of many places
around the globe. Specific heat is defined by the amount of heat needed to raise the
temperature of 1 gram of a substance 1 degree Celsius (°C). Water has a high specific
heat, meaning it takes more energy to increase the temperature of water compared to
other substances.
During the laboratory practice carried out on August 18, 2021, the focus was on
calculating the specific heat of water, the practice was carried out virtually using a
simulator, where an experimental result of 4,180 J and a theoretical value of 4,184 J,
with a% E of 0.09%, this being a result with a minimal difference between the theoretical
and experimental value.
