REGLA GENERAL
La mayoría de los verbos en gerundio se forman agregando ING a la forma base
Start (empezar) – Starting
Drink (tomar) – Drinking
Talk (conversar) – Talking
Eat (comer) – Eating
Gerundio ejemplos:
They are talking in the living room = Ellos están hablando en la sala
Drinking too much soda is bad for your health = Tomar mucha gaseosa en malo para la
salud

VEAMOS OTRAS REGLAS

VERBOS TERMINADOS EN CONSONANTE + E
Si el verbo termina en -e, esta se elimina antes de añadir -ing.
Take (tomar) – taking
Come (venir) – coming
Love (amar) – loving
Have (tener) – having
Dance (bailar) – dancing
Ride (montar) – riding
Write (escribir) – writing
Ejemplos:
My aunt is writing a book of poems = Mi tía esta escribiendo un libro de poemas
I’m having dinner with my parents tonight = Voy a estar cenando con mis papás esta noche

VERBOS TERMINADOS EN -IE

Si el verbo termina en -ie, hay que eliminar la ie y añadir -ying
Die – dying
Lie – lying
Tie – tying
Ejemplos:
I think the witness is lying = Pienso que el testigo está mintiendo
Tying his shoes is not easy for the child = Amarrarse los zapatos no es fácil para el niño

VERBOS TERMINADOS EN L
En inglés británico los verbos terminados en l doblan la l.
Control (controlar) – controlling
Travel (viajar) – travelling
Cancel (cancelar) – cancelling
Ejemplos:
My friends are travelling around the world = Mis amigos están viajando alrededor del undo
The airline is cancelling flights due to bad weather = La aerolínea esta cancelando vuelos
por el mal clima
VERBOS TERMINADOS EN Y O W
Si el verbo termina en -y o -w no doblamos la consonante, puesto que en la fonética inglesa
la y y la w se consideran semivocales.
buy – buying
play – playing
draw – drawing
Ejemplos:
Playing chess develops cognitive skills = Jugar ajedrez desarrolla habilidades cognitivas
My mom is buying some groceries close to home = Mi mamá está comprando algunos
víveres cerca de casa
