TEMA Present and Past Continuous. (Presente y Pasado Continuo).

Present Continous: The present continuous tense describes an action that is happening now. (El tiempo verbal
presente continuo describe una acción que esta sucediendo en el momento).

Subject + verb to be + -ing form of the action verb + complement.

I am buying a book.

He / She / It is sleeping on the sofa.

We / You / They are studying for the test.

Spelling Rules: (Reglas de Escritura).

a) Verbs tha end en -e, drop the -e and add -ing: have - having / come – coming. (Verbos que terminan en
e, eliminar la e y agregar ing).
b) Verbs that end in -ie, change the -ie for -y and add -ing: die – dying / lie – lying. (Verbos que terminan
en ie, cambiar el ie por y y agregar ing).
c) Monosyllable verbs that end in a vowel + a consonant, you must double the consonant and add -ing: sit
– sitting / stop – stopping. (Verbos monosílabos que terminan en una vocal más una consonante,
debes doblar la consonante).

Past Continuous: The past continuous describe an action that was in progress at a time in the past. Follow this
structure. (El pasado continuo describe una acción que estaba en progreso en un momento en el pasado. Sigue
esta estructura).

Subject + verb to be in past + -ing form of the action verb + complement.

I / He / She / It was eating canned food.

We / You / They were reading the newspaper.

Part I: Write six sentences in present continuous, practice the pronunciation. (Escribe seis oraciones en
presente continuo con su traducción y practica su pronunciación).

Part II: Make a dialogue about an event of yourself using past continuos tense. (Realiza un dialogo acerca de un
evento propio usando pasado continuo).
