Las preposiciones de tiempo y lugar AT – IN –

ON
 

Conocer el correcto uso de las preposiciones,  vamos a ver las preposiciones de tiempo y
lugar que se utilizan con las preposiciones “at”, “in”, y “on” que son las que suelen utilizarse
más a menudo.
 

At
Esta preposición se utiliza en los siguientes casos:

 Expresiones con lugares comunes: at home, at school, at work, at the airport, etc…
 Lugares determinados: at the door, at the window, at the top of the page, etc…
 Lugares específicos: at Natural History museum, at the Cambridge University, etc…
 Direcciones y domicilios: at 2393 Colon Square…
 Citas y acontecimientos: at the party, at the meeting, at the conference, etc…
 Posiciones: at the top/bottom, at the front/back, etc…
 Horas y momentos determinados del día: at 4:00 am, at midday, at dawn, at
midnight, etc…
 Fin de semana: at the weekend, at weekends…
 Períodos vacacionales: at Christmas, at Easter, etc.

Nota*
Con edificios, se puede utilizar tanto la preposición “In” como “At”, pero llevad cuidado
porque hay una pequeña matiz:
 at the museum (en el museo: puede ser dentro o justo fuera)
 in the museum (dentro del museo)
 

In
Esta preposición se utiliza en los siguientes casos:

 En espacios cerrados: in hospital, in prison, in bed, in my bedroom, etc..

 Dentro de objetos: in the box, in the book, in the water, etc…
 En lugares al aire libre pero limitados: in the park, in the street, in the queue, in the
garden, etc…
 Con ciudades y países: in London, in Bulgaria, in Murcia, etc…
 Períodos de tiempo (meses, años, estaciones del año, decadas, siglos): in 2002, in
September, in Sumer, etc…
 Las partes del día: in the morning/afternoon/evening.
 

On
Esta preposición se utiliza en los siguientes casos:

 Días especiales: on my birthday, on Christmas Day, On July 4th, On New Year’s

Day, etc…
 Días de la semana: on Monday, on Saturday, etc…
 Sobre superficies: on the floor, on the beach, on the ground floor, etc…
 Direcciones: on the right, on the left, etc…
 Partes del cuerpo: on the arm, on the head, etc…
 Medios de transporte: on a train, on a plane, etc…
 Fin de semana: on the weekend.
 Haciendo referencia a una página específica de un libro o revista: on (the) page
231.
 Redes sociales: on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter, etc…
 Televisores y radio: On tv, on the radio
