ABSTRACT
The present work was carried out with the purpose of knowing the population growth of cladoceros such as the
Daphnia sp also known as water fleas. The experimental culture was carried out in the laboratory of the Alas
Peruanas University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in which 400 Daphnia sp. were used, distributed in 2
bottles of 1 liter each, filled with 80% of their capacity with fresh water. To each of the bottles was added a type
of microalgae, which served as food, this action was performed twice a day, about 50 ml. The first seaweed
used was Chorellavulgaris, which were previously cultivated by the students in the laboratory. The other
seaweed used was the scenedesmus sp provided by the teacher in charge.
Successive counts were carried out every 15 days, in which the growth of the fleas in the bottle containing
Chorella vulgaris was determined. The result was an increase of 100 % that is to say the double of the quantity
with which it was initiated. The sample that was fed with Scenedesmus sp did not survive and died after 3
days, being the temperature an unfavorable factor for its growth.
