Esta es una publicacin trilinge para trabajar

fuera y dentro del saln de clases, as que puede
ser trabajada como material autodidctico

Tratamos de equilibrar el uso de las tres lenguas

Los textos y las palabras presentadas, as como

los contextos culturales de cada lengua, nunca
tendrn equivalente exacto en otra lengua, son
propios a cada grupo social, as que estas son
tan slo aproximaciones para poder conocer y,
si es posible, comprender otras culturas, tratando
de fomentar tolerancia y respeto.

PRESENTACIN
En esta cartilla expondremos nuestra
propuesta para fortalecer la identidad
cultural a travs de la enseanza del
ingls como segunda lengua en niveles
bsicos de enseanza, as como la
enseanza del wayuunaiki para personas
no indgenas, e incluso aquellos que
siendo de ascendencia indgena no
conocen el wayuunaiki.
Estar dirigida a toda persona que desee
aprender algunas frases de esta hermosa
lengua indgena o conocer algunos
aspectos culturales y gramaticales.
Podr ser utilizada por maestros en
todos los contextos educativos.

Right on this notebook we will expose our proposal for
strenghting the cultural identity through english teaching as
a second language on basic levels of teaching, and the
learning of the wayuunaiki for non-indigenous poeple, and
even those that being the offspring of indigenous dont know
the wayuunaiki language.
Itll be addressed to everyone that wants to learn some
phrases of this beautiful indigenous language or discover
some cultural and grammatical facts.
It can be used by every teacher on every learning
environment.

INTRODUCCIN A LA CARTILLA

La palabra Wayuunkeera traduce mujer de barro, hace alusin a una figura

humana, creada por la majayut hasta antes del ritual del encierro, para
divertirse; cada persona puede hacer su propia mujer a su imagen y
semejanza, decorarla segn le plazca, dejarle brazos y cabeza, o puede no tener
extremidades ni cabeza, o tener cabeza de animales, o tan solo el tronco. Esta
imagen representa para nosotros una analoga, que expresa nuestro punto de
vista con respecto a la puesta en prctica de los proyectos etnoeducativos: cada
maestro es un moldeador que hace su prctica pedaggica segn ms le guste,
pero en su mayora los vemos como un tronco slido que carece de
extremidades, sin miembros que los lleven a donde deberan llegar, ni una
cabeza que gue su camino, en fin un monigote, un ttere. Es interesante ver
que en la actualidad este objeto Wayuunkeera, es utilizado como un juguete
infantil, e incluso aquel ritual del encierro donde se entrenaba a las jovencitas
en las labores que le serviran para su vida futura, hoy no dura ms de una
semana, cuando en el pasado duraba meses e incluso aos. Muchas veces, en
muchos contextos, as se asume el tema de la etnoeducacin, la creacin de
muequitos de barro para divertirse, y es frecuente que los muecos ni siquiera
queden bien. Por esta razn adoptamos este nombre para la cartilla.

The word Wayuunkeera means mud woman, makes reference to a human

shape, created by the majayut (girls) until the confinement ritual begins, for
having fun; each person can make his own woman on his image, according
to their likeness, to decorate it as he wishes, give to it arms or head, or nothing
at all, even animals head, or just the trunk. This image represents for us an
analogy, that expresses our point of view according to the development of the
ehtnoeducatives proyects: each teacher gives shape to his pedagogical practice
according to his desires, but most of all, we see it as a solid trunk without
extremities, without any member that lead them to the place where they should
be, not even a head that guides its path, in the end a puppet. Its interesting to
see that nowadays this Wayuunkeera, is used as a childish object, and even
that confinement ritual where young ladies were trained in the labours that will
be worth fot heir future life, today doesnt long more than a couple of weeks,
while in the past it lasted for months and even years. Many times, in many
environments, thats the way the ethnoeducation subject is assumed, as the
creation of tiny mud puppets for having fun, and often the puppets cant even
be well done. Thats the reason for adopting this name for the booklet.

EN BSQUEDA DE UNA IDENTIDAD CULTURAL

A TRAVS DEL INGLS

Desde la mismsima llegada de los espaoles, es decir, desde hace muchos aos, se ha
venido impartiendo educacin para las poblaciones indgenas, y en su totalidad, sin
excepcin alguna, quienes han tenido el derecho y la autoridad para organizar, plantear y
dictar los contenidos que se ensearn son personas ajenas a estas comunidades, en
ocasiones personas que no tienen ni la ms mnima idea de las costumbres o las lenguas
que se hablan en estas comunidades, y mucho menos tiene la intencin de conocerlas.
Incluso ya adentrados en el siglo XXI se siguen presentando las mismas ideologas
colonialistas y aculturizadoras en pases en va de desarrollo.

Ahora bien, durante los ltimos treinta aos ha venido surgiendo otro grupo, compuesto por
una especie de mestizos o hbridos culturales, que salen de la minora tnica para vincularse
a estudios superiores en universidades e incluso hay quienes han viajado al extranjero para
recibir capacitacin, un grupo de intelectuales indgenas, que luego trata de devolver lo
aprendido, materializndolo en proyectos y planes para contrarrestar estas tendencias de
eliminacin cultural y fortalecer la identidad cultural desde la familia, prosiguindola en la
escuela.

Recientemente se han tratado de modificar los modelos educativos tradicionales en la

educacin formal para aplicarlos en comunidades indgenas, esos modelos que durante
siglos han tenido las mismas bases que promueven la idea de una educacin indispensable,
de necesidades trascendentales e inmutables. Ahora se hace una divisin entre dos tipos de
modelos educativos: educacin PARA la vida, que consiste en estudiar varios aos para
obtener un empleo remunerado y poder vivir; otra es la educacin EN la vida, donde se
prepara al estudiante en las labores diarias que exige la vida comn, situaciones reales que
lo preparan para recibir el sustento. El otro modelo pedaggico se da mientras el nio o
nia conoce los roles de su comunidad y las actividades que deber desarrollar como
adulto.

Tomando en cuenta la oralidad de las comunidades indgenas se han venido ideando

modelos educativos y currculos que se centran en el contexto del vivir cotidiano de la
persona, el wayu en este caso, para no distanciar al estudiante de su realidad inmediata y
evitar hacerle sentir vergenza de su propia cultura, suceso lamentable que ocurre con
algunos de los estudiantes que llegan a terminar el ciclo completo. Se estara hablando de
una educacin propia y no de una etnoeducacin, que es el trmino actual con el que se
designa la instruccin brindada en las escuelas. Claro que esto no implicara la total
desaparicin de las escuelas, tan slo se convertirn en centros para continuar la educacin
recibida en casa, sin salirse de los marcos de valores y actitudes aceptadas en la comunidad,
aportndoles los conocimientos bsicos e incluso especializados sobre el mundo en el que
se habita y los conocimientos ms profundos de su propia cultura y la tolerancia ante las
dems.

Notas para la pronunciacin

En wayuunaiki las siguientes letras son diferentes a la pronunciacin en el castellano

Letra L: Tiene un sonido similar a la R simple.

(Vibrante simple, pico alvolo palatal. = la punta de la lengua toca el paladar blando, o la parte anterior del paladar; es como devolver un poco
el sonido de la r)

Letra R Suena como una doble R (rr).

(Vibrante mltiple pico alvolo palatal = la punta de la lengua vibra como una rr en el paladar blando)
Para facilitarla al alijuna, pronuncie rr

Letra Para pronunciarla correctamente, se deben colocar los labios en posicin de la vocal E, pero
se pronuncia una U.

Julamia - The majayut that lived caged

This is the story of a pretty young girl that lived caged many years. A man was
watching over her constantly. A day, as usual, her mom woke up early in the

Vestan con el cuero de los animales que cazaban, no se diferenciaban las vestimentas
de los hombres con el de las mujeres porque slo se cubran sus partes ntimas al igual
que los wayuu.
Los kusina se alimentaban de plantas, races, pjaros y pescado entre otros animales
que solan cazar.
Cuentan las leyendas en sus distintas versiones que los kusina fueron arrastrados por un
enorme huracn que los desapareci por completo de la faz de la tierra.

Wayuu store about the Kusina

The kusina are of the same arawak linguistic family, they were the rebels of this region,
didnt have an established order of hierarchy and had a social disorder among their
community, were nomad the same as the wayuu, were established most of the time at
the sekuolo region in the center of the Serrana de la Makuira.
The kusinas lived in stone caves of which they only came out at night for avoiding been
