USO:
Cuando el sujeto del verbo de la oracin de relativo no es el mismo que el sustantivo del
cual estamos hablando.
FORMA:
EJEMPLOS:
"Frederick is the man (who/that/whom) I work with."
"Here's the book (which/that) you lent me."
"Tell me everything (that) you remember."
EJEMPLOS:
"The lady with whom you were dancing is my wife."
OR
"The lady (that) you were dancing with is my wife."
"The company for which you work is responsible for your pension."
OR
"The company (that) you work for is responsible for your pension."
EJEMPLOS:
"That's the house where Shakespeare lived."
"1492 was the year when Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic."
USO:
Cuando el sujeto del verbo de la oracin de relativo no es el mismo
que el sustantivo del tipo que est hablando.
FORMA:
EJEMPLOS:
"Frederick es el hombre (con quin / con quien) con quien trabajo".
"Aqu est el libro (que / que) me prestaste."
"Dime todo lo que recuerdas."
EJEMPLOS:
La seora con la que estabas bailando es mi mujer.
O
La seora con la que estabas bailando es mi esposa.
EJEMPLOS:
-Esa es la casa donde vivi Shakespeare.
"1492 fue el ao en que Cristbal Coln cruz el Atlntico".
USO:
Cuando el sujeto del verbo de la oracin de relativo es el mismo que el sustantivo del
cual hablamos.

"Let's see the movie which/that won the prize."
"I've forgotten everything that happened."
"Bill's the man who called me last night."
"Where is the factory that makes those chairs?"

USO:
Se utilizan para hablar acerca de la accin o hecho mencionado en la oracin principal.
Se puede utilizar una ORACIN ADVERBIAL para explicar una accin, para decir
cundo ocurre o cunto dura o para determinar las condiciones de la misma. La oracin
adverbial va introducida por una conjuncin que define su funcin.
FORMA:
[ORACIN PRINCIPAL + CONJUNCION + ORACIN ADVERBIAL]
EJEMPLOS:
"Jack went home because he was tired."
"Pat will buy a new sweater when she gets paid."
"Jeff gets angry if you criticize him."
EJEMPLOS:
USO:
Se utiliza para explicar el estado, accin o hecho mencionado en la oracin principal
haciendo referencia a otro estado condicin, accin o hecho. Para ello se pueden utilizar
distintas conjunciones. Utilizamos BECAUSE para indicar el motivo del estado, accin
o hecho; tambin utilizamos BECAUSE y SO THAT para expresar el propsito o
intencin de una accin.
EJEMPLOS:
"I'm tired because I didn't sleep last night." (reason)
"Mike lent Jenny his car because she wanted to visit her mother." (purpose)
"Vera opened the cage door so that the bird could get out." (purpose)
USO:
Se utilizan para decir cundo occure el estado, accin o hecho de la oracin principal, o
cunto dura, haciendo referencia a otro estado, accin o hecho. Para ello se pueden usar
distintas conjunciones.
NOTA: En las oraciones adverbiales de tiempo, por lo general no empleamos las formas
futuras WILL o GOING TO aunque estemos hablando de un momento en el futuro.
EJEMPLOS:
"The soldiers will come home when the war ends."
"John opened the package as soon as it arrived."
EJEMPLOS:
S:"I saw Pavarotti when he got off the plane in L.A."
"Fred phoned me while I was having lunch."
BEFORE, UNTIL - si el hecho de la oracin principal ocurre antes del hecho de la
oracin adverbial. BEFORE se utiliza si existe un intervalo de tiempo entre ambos
hechos.
EJEMPLOS:
"I have to finish school before I can get a job."
"I waited at the bus stop until the bus arrived."
USO:
Se utilizan para expresar la condicin entre la oracin principal y la oracin adverbial.
Observe que por lo general no utilizamos las formas WILL o GOING TO en las
oraciones adverbiales.
EJEMPLOS:
"Flowers die if you don't give them enough water."
"I'll visit you tomorrow if I have time."
EJEMPLOS:
"We'll have the meeting at 1 a.m. unless it's canceled."
"I'll be late for school unless you take me, Mom."
USO:
Se utiliza para expresar un contraste entre la oracin principal y la oracin adverbial.
EJEMPLOS:
"I feel that I know you very well, although we've nevermet before."
"He couldn't speak English, although he said he was American."

ORACIONES
USO:
Cuando una frase contiene ms de un verbo conjugado (es decir, verbo con su propio
sujeto) sta se divide en oraciones. Cada ORACIN contiene un sujeto y un verbo. La
primera ORACIN de la frase, por lo general, es la ORACIN PRINCIPAL, las dems
son ORACIONES SUBORDINADAS. Dos tipos comunes de ORACIONES
SUBORDINADAS son las SUSTANTIVAS y ADVERBIALES.
EJEMPLOS:
"I think that your new dress is beautiful."
"Why don't you call when you're late?"
"I have to go home after I finish work."
ORACIONES SUSTANTIVAS
USO:
Una ORACIN SUSTANTIVA por lo general ofrece o solicita informacin acerca de
una persona o un objeto que ha sido introducido por la oracin principal.
EJEMLOS:
"I think that your sister is lovely!"
"I don't know who she is."
Notice that the Wh-Question words are not followed by the normal question form.
ORACIONES ADVERBIALES
USO:
Una ORACIN ADVERBIAL por lo general contiene informacin acerca del verbo de
la oracin principal. Con frecuencia explica la oracin principal o indica cundo ocurre.
EJEMPLOS:
"He drank water because he was thirsty."
"She spoke slowly so that I could understand."
"I always worry when my kids come home late."
