Getsemanita community. Today on this special day, Language Day, we are going to
commemorate GABRIEL GARCIA MARQUEZ, we will remember some of his works,
and we will give life to his yellow butterflies.
Welcome!!
Buenos días damas y caballeros, señor rector, docentes, estudiantes y toda nuestra
comunidad Getsemanita.
¡¡Bienvenidos!!
For many readers, yellow butterflies have become one of the most representative
symbols of the literary universe of Gabriel García Márquez. Although other insects
appear in the work of the Colombian writer - some with greater frequency and
prominence, such as red ants -, it is these showy lepidopterans that have ended up
taking all the fame, dragging with them any association with García Márquez and his
magical realism.
In the spiritual aspect, the yellow butterfly symbolizes hope and guidance and acts as
a symbol of soul. Seeing a yellow butterfly fluttering around you would mean that joy
and prosperity are near and beyond the illusions of the work of Gabriel Garcia
Marquez, yellow butterflies are the symbol of joy, happiness and hope. Maybe the
butterflies mean that Colombia expects a big change. A positive change that may be
just around the corner.
