a) Ampllnrde: Adjust the amplitude by incrensing or decreasing the cou.nter
weight, with tite spccific ndjustment mnge referring to the table of'uuthorized
valucs far amplitude adjustment.
b) Frequcncy: Adjust by changing thc size of rhe pulley. The Irequency can be
800, 850 nnd 900 (standard 850rpm) nccording to the pulley srze:
c) Oip angle: The factory standard angle is 18 degrees for SSX r!es circular mction
vibroting screeus. but users can also ndjust thc nnglc thcmsch-cs within thc r:nngc of 18

on the site conditions. Reduce the dip angle on the conrrary.

3.3 Operating principie

The S5X series circular motion vibrating screens are equipped with eccentric
vibrarors and generally single motor drive is adopted, but large-sized screens are driven
by two 11101ors. During working, the motor drives the shaft of the vibrator through
the driving unit and the flexible coupling, and the shaft drives the eccentric disk of
the vibrator to produce exciting force during rotation and make the screen bo:<
vibrating continuously while the materials are being casi continuously on the tilted
sifter of the screen box nnd are layered while being throv..n up, with the particles
dropping through thc scrcen when falling onto the siftcr, repeatedly thus lo complete
classification of panicles. See the figure below for the track:
\Vhen the vibrator is located above the centroid of the screen, the feeding end
of the screen is subject to un elliptic track with an acule angle in existence between
the eltipse transverse and the sifter, thus to make the materials moved to the middle as
soon as possible and diluted quickly. but the discharge end is subject toan cbtuse angle.
thus to reduce the speed of the material Ilow and realize the effect of check screening
\\ ith the sifler marerials approximately scrccned idenricel in thickness.
\Vhen the vibrntor is kepl clase 10 the centroid of the screen, rhe materia.Is on
the sifler are ulways bouncing back and rolling ovcr approxima1ely in o. circular
n1anner to achieve a uniform material flow rate, a 1hicker material la)'er al the feeding
end and o. thinner material !ayer at the discharge end.

4. While a screen is being installed, necessary feeding apparatuss, hoppers and
chutes should be provided as required and g feed1g arrangemem is_ very
important, which will determine the actual screenmg efficiency of the screen,
5. The screen should be installed on a slope platform (as shown in Figure 9) for
easy observation and maintenance;
6. Necessary power and water supply should be provided;
7. AII electrical components and motors should be installed according to the local
electrical code.
Supporting structure design
The design of the vibrating screen supporting structure should consider such three
factors as the rccommended installation angle, the strength necessary to support the load
ofthe vibrating screen and its accessories as "ellas the inherenl frequency not
consistent with the working frequency of the vibrating screen. lf rhe working
frequency of the vibrating screen is rhe same as or close 10 that of one or more
supporting structural members, rhe vibration will be passed to such members, which
may be harmful to the vibrating screen, infrastructure and working staff Usually, the
natural frequency of the supporting structure should be at leasr 2.5 times of the
vibrating screen working
frequency.
When carrying out calculations related to the natural frequency of the structure, you

Feedlng de lgn
Th successful installa1ion dcpends on right fccding of the vibratíng screcn. In
ordcr to effectivety use thc scrcening arca ond make the test rnachine working in lts
healthy state, the fecding installation design should consider such contents as follows:
1. Let materia Is enter thc fecding arca a long the path parallel to the cerner line of
thc vibrating screen;
2. The materials should be fed at lhe same speed and evenly distributed on the whole
width ofthe screen mesh;
3. 1t is an excellent investment to select correct and appropriate feeding layout,
for example, a buffer bin of lhe vibrating feeder. This kind of feeding
equipment shall have its feeding controlled according to the capacity of the
vibrating screen;
4. According to the needs of the app/ica1ion types, the vibrating screen should be
so designed to be applicable to specific materials and feeding speed. When
the material conditions and requirements have changed, the feeding speed must
be changed. The material speed depends on various parameters, such as the
feed rate, material density, feed layer thickness and screen mesh. Usually the
belt conveyor or other feeding apparatuss sha/1 never have the feed rate greater
than the capacity ofthe screen;
5. The gravity-flowing discharge chutes and feed hoppers are normal/y used for
transponing wet or dry materials. The flashboard and buffer board are
arranged for decelerating the high-speed feeding apparatus. Thus, the vibrating
screen can receive materia Is et the normal feeding speed. (See Figure 11:
Layout of typical feed boxs) lfthe buffer board of the feed box is correctly
arranged, the materials can be piled up 10 ensure the minimum wear of the
board;
6. lfthe clear height is not enough to arrange the buffer feed box, a buffer chain
can be used to reduce the feeding speed, so that the materials for screening can
be evenly distributed. (See Figure 12) The chain also can help prevent
coarse materials falling directly onto the screen mesh;
7. Any chute or feed box used for conveying rnaterials should be 160mm ar above
smaller than the width ofthe vibrating screen and the height shall be no less than
80mm lo the screen mesh or feed box.
Note: Good feeding arrangemenl can more fully use the screening arca, so that the
screen could achieve higher output and efficiency.

Discharglng chute dcslgn

When dcsígning thc discharging chute and any dust cover of the vibrating screen, it
must be considered that a safcty gap of 50mn1 and 80mm tronsvcrsely and vertically
rcspcctively should be provided to prevenl the vibrating screen suffering from collision in
time of stan-up and shutdown. In any case, the screcn body shall not touch any fixed
objecr, including the matcrials that may be pilcd up al the lower edge and discharge cnd of
the screen.

s Special tips:
l. Before no consultatlon is made wllh the technlcal departmenl of
our company, never add any feed chute or olher struclure to lhe screen;
2. Ne,·er weld on lhe side plale, and if any coupling componenl is needed,
holcs should be drilled on the side plale and lhen bolted;
3. In lime of chute or other steel structure weldlng, the welding currenl
shall not pass lhrough the screen bearing.s or other electrlcal
components¡ etherwtse, such bearlngs or electrlcal components may
suffer from fatal damages.
Discharging chute: The chute processing large-sized materials must have a sufficient
slope to prevent clogging. The depth of a closed chute shall be no less than 3 times of the
maximum material size, in arder 10 avoid clogging. The discharging chute shou/d also be
so designed that the screen mesh can be easily replaced and conveniently lifled by means
of hinges or similar tools.
Chute belo,v the screen: The chute can collect the materials through the screen and
shall be independently supponed and kept al 80rnm or above away from the vibrating
screen. The chute should have a sufficient slope to prevent materials piling up. The effect
will be identical when the vibrating screen ofthe screen hits the collected materials and
the fixed objects.
J\1ainlenance platform
A ,vorking platfonn shall be provided far the operational staff to walk safely and
conveniently observe the ,vorking state ofthe vibrating screen. During the platform design,
we should correctly consider the space requirements and the convenience far
troubleshooting the changes ofthe sifter.
Note: A necessary passageway must be provided for correcr maintenance of the vibrating
screen, and ifit is not convenient for maintenance, the cost will rise accordingly.
There shall be enough working space above and around the vibrating screen for
convenient maintenance and replacement of the vibrator assembly, and during
maintenance, sorne parts may need to be assembled or disassembled by means of hinges
or other lifting devices.
Dustproof devlces
The dustproof measures are becoming more and more important on the screening
equipment due to the increasing requirements of environmental protection. Two
methods can be used to reduce the dust produced during dry screening.

6.4 Vibrator maintenance

After a pair of new vibrators have bcen working for 5000 hours (or 10000 hours
for imponed bearings), )OU should stan to check the bearings, and if any damage is found
or the bearing service life is found tcrminated, thcir beorings sha/1 be replaced
togcther. Operators should be very familiar v,i1h the bearing opemtion sound, and if
any noise change is found and especially when it stans rumbling, then it
indicates bearing deterioration.
Steps for removal: (Rcferto Figure 15, Figure 18 and Figure 26)
1. Remove thc universal joint cover, remove the vibrator inncr cocer and then
removc the universal joint;
2. Remove thc flexible sheet and coupling;
3. Remove thc outer cover of the vibrator;
4. Unscrew the torsional shear bolts to connect the vibrator, remove the SV vibrator
from the vibrating screen and then place it on the working table for subsequent
dismantling;

5. Remove the gland and coupling al both ends ofthe vibrator;

6. Remove the eccentric disks at borh ends ofthe vibrator;
7. Remove thc labyrinth rings at both ends ofthe vibrator;
8. Remove the bearing glands at both ends ofthe vibrator;
9. Use hydraulic press or special tooling ora puller against the outer ring oí the
beanng seat to force the shaft and two bearings out from one side ofthe bearing
seat;

Steps for installation: (Refer 10 Figure 15, Figure 18 and Figure 26)

_The steps f?r installation are opposite to those of disassembly; see 4.7 for

Recommended grease:
Two kinds of grease can be selected: synthetic or mineral grease.
The synthetic grease is better in quality and can achieve a longer service life.
Scheme 1 · svnthetic grease lubrication
The synthetic grcase refers to NLGI Level-2 grease that must contain polyolefin (PAO)
synthetic base oil. The visccsiry ofthe base oil must be kept between 130 cst and 230 cst at
40'C.
The synthetic grease must contain lithium soap. Never use calcium soap grease at the
excuse that the lithium soap grease is incompatible.
The symhctic grease must have EP (extreme pressure) characteristics.
For cxample: MOBILITH SHC220 grease (see the end part ofthis Manual for the technical
specifications of this kind of grease).
Scheme 2: mineral grease lubrication
The mineral grease must contain NLGI Level-2 base oil. The viscosity ofthe base oil
must be kept berween 130 cst and 230 cst at 40"C.
The mineral grease must contain lithium soap. Never use calcium soap grease et the
excuse that the Iithium soap grease is incompatible.
The mineral grease must have EP (extreme pressure) characteristics.
For example: MOBILITH SHC220 .

8 Common Troubleshooting

Acaution

Before performlng any repair or maintenance, be sure to lurn off the

power supply to the vibranng screen.
After long-tcrm use, the vibrating screen wil! havc its parts or finings lose thcir
original performance due to wear, deformation, fatigue, corrosion, looseness or other
reasons, sufTer from worse technical conditions, not work normally and even not be
able to work anymore, which all are known as vibmting screen faults.

The vibrating screen failures include accidental damagcs dueto improper adjustment,
use and maintenance as well as natural damages caused by such reasons as wear,
corrosion and fatigue. The former can be avoided while the latter is inevitable, but if we
can find out the reasons for damages of the parts, master the regular pattem of damages
and take corresponding technical measures from the design and manufacture to the use
and maintenance, the parts damages can be greatly reduced and then the vibrating screen
will enjoya longer service life.

Here follow the methods for analysis and troubleshooting of the common faults on
screens.

8.1 Steps for inspection and maintenance

1. Refer to 6.5 for testing bearing lubrication;

2. Test the motoron a regular basis in accordance whh the test methods as recommended
by the motor manufacturer;
3. Weekly Inspecrion

9.2-3 Container transportation

For shipping, usually the container transpon should be adopted if the vibrating screen
can have its dimensions fit the container size after its vibrating device and supporting
assembly have been removed. Possibly, it also can only be flxed on the ship
deck during transponation.

State of the vibrating screen placed in a container • Three-leyered 1.8-meter·widc or

smaller vibrating screens can be placed upright in the container as shown in Figure 30.
Three-layered 2.1 -meter-wide or larger vibrating screens can be placed with one side up in
the container as shown in Figure 31. A four-layered screen needs to be configured with a
