La alternativa “naive”
• Los índices Benchmark deben medir el riesgo y el retorno de los
inversionistas sin conocimientos excepcionales sobre las diversas
oportunidades de inversión que pueden experimentar cuando
invierten en diferentes clases de activos.
• Este principio afecta significativamente la selección y el peso que
constituye cada índice: Capitalization Weighted o Equal
Weighted.

• Un Benchmark debe de cubrir todas las oportunidades en la
clase de activo. Si un índice falla en incluir instrumentos que
esperamos estén dentro de nuestro portafolio, esta omisión
puede derivar en consecuencias y errores en la estructura de
nuestro asset allocation en el portafolio o en caso de managers
activos, en su performance y evaluación
Creación del Benchmark
Simple-Transparente y Confiable
• El benchmark debe construirse con un método simple y
transparente que pueda ser replicado por los usuarios, con reglas
de construcción fáciles y con información disponible; de otra
forma los inversionistas serán incapaces de recrear el índice y no
podrán entender o anticipar los cambios
