Comment-Comment (Reciprocates Social Comments)

Goal: Reciprocates social comments within 3 seconds (e.g., IT: “My name is Fred” Student: “My name is…”)

Teaching Steps:
Therapist starts conversation by commenting first. Student should reciprocate conversation on topic to match therapist
1. Student holds an item – “I have…”
2. Student has a picture in front of him/her – “I see…”
3. Student reciprocates what he/she is wearing – “I am wearing”
4. Generalize other comments that he/she can see (e.g., I am holding, My shirt is (colour), My shoes are (colour), I am
reading, I am __ing, etc.)
5. Reciprocates mastered social questions with full text cues (e.g., My name is, I am ___ years old, I go to __ school, etc.)
6. No text cues
7. Reciprocates favourites/I like…./My favourite…
8. Novel social comments
9. Generalize to peers (if you haven’t done so already)
