Dear ABSH Language Arts Festival participating schools:

Each school will contribute with 1 set of 30 words per grade for the Spelling Bee. In the event
that a competition room has used all the words in the box, then the words of the next grade up
will be used, only after the words have been exhausted by the upper grade. The words that will
be submitted by each school can come from a variety of sources such as but not limited to:

Cada escuela contribuirá con 1 juego de 30 palabras por grado para Deletreo. En el caso que
en un aula de competencia hayan usado todas las palabras de la caja, se usarán los juegos de
palabras del siguiente grado, siempre y cuando dichas palabras ya se hayan utilizado. Las
palabras que entregará cada escuela pueden provenir de una variedad de fuentes tales como:

 Reading stories or Novels/ Cuentos o novelas


 Spelling Programs / Programas de ortografía
 Science and Social Studies content / Contenidos de ciencias y estudios sociales.
 Frequently misspelled words / Palabras mal escritas con frecuencia
 Dolch words / Palabras dolch
 Fry list / Lista de Fry
 Other sources / Otras fuentes

Words by grade level can be found on the following links. Please try to keep them at grade
level, simple and fair. Judges will have to meet the day before the competition to revise and
eliminate the words that are not appropriate.

ask that you use some online resources to help edit the grammar before submitting the word
list.

correct part of speech on the word card.

Please use the attached template to make the word cards. Be sure not to change the sizes of
the letters so that cards are all a standard size and edited in Word. Each school should bring
their cards printed and cut to size to be handed in on Friday February 24, 2023 at the judges
and callers meeting. We also kindly request you bring the words in an USB in case we need to
make corrections.

Por favor use la plantilla adjunta para hacer las tarjetas de palabras. Asegúrese de no cambiar
