-Can

» Ability: -> I can swim, play tennis and ride a bike too. (Yo sé nadar, jugar tenis y también montar
una bicicleta).

->I can speak five languages. (Puedo hablar cinco idiomas.)

->She can speak Italian very well. (Ella puede hablar italiano muy bien)

»Possibility: ->It can be dangerous to drive if you are tired. (Conducir puede ser peligroso si estás
cansado.)

-> Can they work late tonight? (¿Pueden trabajar hasta tarde esta noche?)

->The restaurant can be expensive if you drink a lot of wine. (El restaurante puede ser caro si
bebes mucho vino.)

-Could:

»Past of can: -> I could see him yesterday. (Yo pude verlo ayer)

->When I entered the room, I could hear something scratching. (Cuando entré al cuarto, pude
escuchar como unos arañazos).

->When I was younger, I could work out for two hours without stopping. (Cuando era más joven,
podía entrenar durante dos horas sin parar).

»Possibility: -> I could go to London. (Yo podría irme a Londres)

->You could pass the test if you studied. (Podrías pasar el examen si estudiaras.)

->I think it could rain later. (Creo que podría llover más tarde.)

»Solicitud a algo: ->Could you help me? (¿Podrías ayudarme?)

->Could you do me a favour? (¿Podrías hacerme un favor? )

->Could you pass the salt, please? (¿Podrías pasar la sal por favor? )
-May:

»Pedir permiso: ->May I leave now? (¿Podría salir ahora?)

»Solicitud: ->May you take this to Mr. Richards? (¿Podrías llevarle esto al señor Richards?)

»Possibility: -> Jack may be telling the truth. (Puede que Jack esté diciendo la verdad)

-Might:

»Past of may: -> He might have done his homework yesterday. (Él pudo haber hecho su tarea
ayer.)

->She might have called before. (Ella pudo haber hablado antes.)

->As she left the office early, Gaby might have gone to the movies. (Como salió de la oficina
temprano, Gaby pudo haber ido al cine.)

»Possibility: ->I Would bring an umbrella, it might rain later. (Yo llevaría un paraguas, puede
llover más tarde.)

->It might be better to finish this now, rather than wait until tomorrow. (Tal vez sea mejor
terminar esto ahora, en lugar de esperar hasta mañana.)
->If I don’t have to work this afternoon, I might go to the movies. (Si no tengo que trabajar esta
tarde, podría ir al cine.)

-Should:

»Advce: -> They should practice more if they want to win the championship.(Deberían practicar
más si quieren ganar el campeonato.)

->You should read a few books in English. (Deberías leer algunos libros en inglés)

->You shouldn’t drink alcohol. (No deberías beber alcohol)

-Must:

»Obligation: ->We must be at the airport at three o'clock. (Debemos estar en el aeropuerto a las
tres.)

->Everybody must wear a uniform. (Todos deben usar uniforme.)

->You must [have to] brush your teeth two times a day. (Tienes que cepillarte los dientes dos veces
al día.)

-Will:

»Probability: -> Will you come on Tuesday? (¿Vendrás el martes?)

-> I think my team will win. (Yo creo que mi equipo ganará)

- > I think he’ll be a great lawyer, as soon as he finishes university (Creo que será un gran
abogado, tan pronto como termine la Universidad)
