educativa.
INTRODUCTION
Education has become globalized and this is an undeniable fact. With all the
advantages and disadvantages that this entails, as stated in a sentence by
Umberto Eco "The danger of globalization is that it pushes us towards a common
megalanguage". However, it is obvious that in globalization there are also many
benefits such as speaking more than one language, travel, communication and
business. For that reason, it is necessary to teach young people the importance of
learning other languages, since psychological studies indicate that there are
cognitive advantages in bilingual people who act differently. Even at mature ages,
learning languages can provide the same benefits to adults. That is why the saying
"old parrot does not learn to speak” is just a myth in a society.
BENEFITS
Among its advantages are the diversity of languages and cultures, human and
linguistic rights, and social coexistence between speakers of different languages.
Multilingual training improves problem-solving skills, develops auditory perception
and enhances verbal skills. Learning more than one language requires adapting to
different systems of representation of the world. This leads to greater versatility,
fostering the ability to concentrate and perspective.
In addition, studying and learning other languages can be seen as going beyond
the obvious cultural enrichment part and more accentuated to the possibility of
finding a well-paid job, anywhere on the globe.
CONCLUSION
Despite the fact that language teaching in schools has been increasing in recent
years, there is still work to be done in multilingualism. Finally, the implementation
of bilingualism in the different educational institutions has not yet reached the
proposed objectives, due to the lack of new methodological and technological
strategies in the new educational transition.
