Metras

Seguramente tuviste cientos de ellas. Conocidas en otros países como canicas, se tratan de
pequeñas bolitas, generalmente de vidrio o porcelana, que se colocan en el suelo dentro de
un círculo, y el jugador de turno apoyando los nudillos en el piso hace rodar su metra
principal con el objetivo de sacar todas las que se encuentran en el círculo y que la de él
permanezca dentro. Palabras como “ruchar” eran muy usadas durante las partidas de uno de
los juego tradicionales más conocidos.

La papa caliente

Evocando la infancia de muchos -sobretodo en reuniones familiares- con con  estos juegos
tradicionales, incluimos en esta lista “la papa caliente”. Se forma un circulo de personas y
con una pelota o globo se va pasando de mano en mano rápidamente, mientras se canta: “la
papa se quema…”, hasta que la voz de alto -alguien fuera del círculo con los ojos cubiertos-
grita: “se quemó”; quien tenga la “papa” en la mano pierde y es descalificado del juego,
hasta que solo queda uno y ese es el ganador.

Saltar la cuerda

Este junto al Hula-hula es de los favoritos de las niñas, aunque todos se unen a esta
divertida y hasta ejercitante actividad. Ya sea de forma individual o entre compañeros,
saltar la cuerda es uno de los juegos más dinámicos y entretenidos de la infancia, aunque
algunos adultos también lo disfrutan. El salto doble consiste en que dos participantes tomen
los extremos de la cuerda y la hagan girar rápidamente, mientras otros dos participantes
saltan continuamente sobre ella, sin chocar, ni enredarse, ganando aquel participante que
salte más, algunas veces mientras se interpretan canciones.

La vieja

Este juego de agilidad mental realizado con papel y lápiz, era muy popular en las horas
libres en el colegio. Con cruces y círculos dos participantes deben ir llenando las nueve
casillas hasta formar una línea vertical, horizontal o diagonal con la misma figura. Se debe
hacer todo lo posible por impedir que el otro participante lo logre primero, pero evitando
que se “tranque” el juego. El que lo logre gana.

El escondite

Este divertido juego permite a los niños esconderse, mientras otro, elegido por sorteo,
cuenta hasta 100 antes de comenzar a buscarlos. Las zonas de juego se delimitan con
anterioridad y los participantes deben ocultarse lo más rápido y silenciosamente posible. El
que encuentren primero es el siguiente buscador.

Jump the rope:

This one, along with the Hula-hula, is a favorite of girls, although everyone joins in this fun
and even exercising activity. Whether individually or with peers, jumping rope is one of the
most dynamic and entertaining games of childhood, although some adults enjoy it too. The
double jump consists of two participants taking the ends of the rope and spinning it rapidly,
while two other participants continuously jump on it, without colliding or getting tangled,
winning the participant who jumps the most, sometimes while performing songs.

The old woman:

This game of mental agility made with paper and pencil, was very popular in the free hours
at school. With crosses and circles, two participants must fill in the nine boxes until they
form a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line with the same figure. Every effort should be
made to prevent the other participant from achieving it first, but avoiding the game from
“stalling”. Whoever does it wins.

Hideout:
This fun game allows children to hide, while another, chosen by lottery, counts to 100
before starting to look for them. Play areas are defined in advance and participants must
hide as quickly and quietly as possible. The one they find first is the next seeker.
