Resumen
Viendo a Isaías como un libro de dos
partes (capítulos 1–33 y 34–66) con un
tema general conduce a un resumen de su
contenido como el siguiente:
Isaías 7:14

Política de la época
En el siglo VIII a. C., Israel estaba atrapada
entre las dos grandes potencias del
mundo de su época: Babilonia y Egipto.
Era un país pequeño y débil que se debatía
en su papel de tapón entre las dos
grandes esferas dominantes.
Ambiente religioso
Como fue una constante en la historia
israelita, la afluencia de riquezas y la
llegada del bienestar precipitó una crisis
de idolatría bajo el reinado de Jotán. Más
tarde, Acaz intentó, mediante el
sincretismo religioso, asimilar al Dios judío
con otros extranjeros. Fue capaz de
sacrificar su hija al dios Moloch e incluso
de introducir rituales paganos en el
Templo.
Realidad social
El ambiente social en tiempos de Isaías
sigue tal cual como nos lo describen los
profetas menores Amós y Oseas: se había
constituido una poderosa clase social de
nuevos ricos —propietarios y latifundistas
— cuyas tierras se extendían por
interminables distancias. Esta clase
oligárquica se había establecido gracias a
la prosperidad comercial generada
durante los reinados de Jotán en Judá y
de Jeroboam II en Israel.
Autoría y atribución
A finales del siglo XI, el rabino y exégeta
sefardí Ibn Samuel ha-Cohen ibn Chikatilia
(llamado también Chiquitilla) fue el
primero en afirmar, que, en el texto de
Isaías, existen dos autores
completamente distintos.[24]
Posteriormente, los estudiosos
coincidieron en que el Libro de Isasías,
largo y complejo como es, no pudo haber
sido escrito por un solo autor, ni aún por
dos. Los especialistas consideran
evidente que la obra se fue formando a lo
largo de muchos años, con partes
provenientes de tiempos y lugares muy
distintos.

Mesianismo en Isaías
Uno de los puntos centrales alrededor de
los que giran las ideas de Isaías, es que la
verdadera paz, la justicia y la equidad solo
serán accesibles al ser humano cuando
llegue el Mesías.
Influencia en el cristianismo
