Retire el freno de estacionamiento (fuera del chasis)

Empieza por:

a) quitar la transmisión y transferir los engranajes

NOTA: Si la máquina está equipada con una cabina, es necesario quitar la transmisión y los engranajes de
transferencia para quitar el freno de estacionamiento.

1. Retire los pernos (1) que sujetan el freno de estacionamiento a la caja del engranaje de transferencia.

2. Sujete un polipasto al freno de estacionamiento (2) y retírelo. El peso del freno de estacionamiento es de 200
lb (91 kg) .

3. Compruebe el estado del sello de la junta tórica en la jaula para el freno de estacionamiento. Si el sello tiene
daños, use una pieza nueva para reemplazarlo.

Instale el freno de estacionamiento (fuera del chasis)

1. Instale una nueva junta tórica en la jaula del freno de estacionamiento.

2. Sujete un polipasto al freno de estacionamiento (1) y colóquelo en la caja del engranaje de transferencia.

3. Instale los pernos que sujetan el freno de estacionamiento en su posición.

Terminar por:

a) instalar engranajes de transmisión y transferencia

Retire e instale el freno de estacionamiento (en el chasis)

NOTE: It is possible to remove the parking brake without removing the transmission. Working conditions are
very tight and safety requirements must be remembered with every step. However, a significant time savings can
be achieved, if only the parking brake must be removed, as compared to a transmission removal.

NOTE: It is highly recommended that the parking brake area, transmission, fuel tank and swivel area be steam
cleaned prior to any work. This will somewhat improve difficult working conditions, and reduce the possibility

of contaminants entering the system during installation.

NOTE: Although it is not required, it may be desirable to drain the hydraulic tank to prevent loss of fluid
because of the number and position of hydraulic lines which must be disconnected.

1. Move the machine to a flat, dry working area. Articulate the machine completely to the right thus exposing
the left side of the machine and the fuel tank.

2. Shut off the machine. It is not necessary to set the parking brake, since it will be removed. Block all four
wheels to prevent any movement of the machine.

3. Drain off as much of the fuel from the fuel tank as possible into suitable containers for reuse. This will reduce
the weight of the fuel tank during removal.

Typical Example

4. Remove ten bolts (2) and two sets of railings (1) from above the fuel tank.

5. Attach two Link Brackets (tooling A) and a hoist to the fuel tank.

6. Remove and plug two fuel lines located on the side of the tank. Identify and disconnect any other wires or
tywraps located on the tank.

7. Remove three bolts (4) from each of two locations on the lower inside portion of the fuel tank. These bolts
secure the lower portion of the fuel tank to the frame.

Check the location of the hoist and the tightness of the chains or straps
holding the fuel tank prior to performing the next step. Insure that
proper tooling is used to prevent bodily injury from the fuel tank when
it is released from the frame.

8. Remove twelve bolts (5) (six from each side) and two plates (6) from both sides of the upper portion of the
fuel tank.

9. Remove fuel tank (7). Approximate empty weight is 193 kg (425 lb).

10. Remove bolt (9), washer (10) and pin (8) from the left side steering cylinder.

11. Grasp the rod end of the left steering cylinder and pivot it out and away from the frame as far as possible. It
can be tied back if desired.

12. Remove and plug hydraulic lines (12) and (13).

13. Remove bolts and remove cover (14) from above parking brake.

14. Disconnect and plug hydraulic hose connected to the parking brake.

15. Install a nylon strap around the parking brake (15) as shown.

16. Install Tooling (A) (use two link brackets). Install one on the underside of the cab, directly above the parking
brake. A threaded hole is present and is used as a hydraulic hose clamp. Install the second link bracket on the
underside of the cab toward the front of the cab. Choose a location which has as little obstruction from hoses as
possible.

17. Install a wire cable with hooks on each end capable of holding 91 kg (200 lb). Slip the cable through both
Link Brackets and attach one hook to the end of the nylon strap holding the parking brake. Attach the hook on
the other end of the cable to a hoist or other suitable device capable of handling the weight.

18. Remove eight of the nine bolts securing the parking brake to the rear of the transmission. Leave the top
most bolt installed.

19. Using a hoist or other suitable device, apply tension to the wire cable and the nylon strap holding the parking
brake.

Typical Example

20. Mount the machine from the opposite side and utilize the platform directly behind the cab. From this point,
reach down and remove the remaining bolt (16) securing the parking brake to the transmission.

21. Use a pry bar and slowly separate the parking brake from the transmission. The parking brake has a short
splined shaft.

Typical Example

22. Dismount the machine and return to the left hand side of the machine. Slowly lower and guide the parking
brake by means of the wire cable and strap to the point in the box on the above photo and remove parking brake
(15) from the machine. Weight of the parking brake is 91 kg (200 lb).

NOTE: Install in reverse order.

Start By:

a) remove parking brake

1. Remove bolts (1) and plate (2) from the housing assembly.

2. Install a 3/8 " - 16 NC forged eyebolt in piston (4). Pull the piston out of the bore in the housing assembly.
Remove the spring and O-ring seal from the bore. Remove the other two pistons, springs and O-ring seals from
the housing assembly.

3. Remove spacers (3) from the housing assembly.

Remove bolts (5) slowly and evenly to release the tension from the
springs behind housing assembly (6).

4. Remove housing assembly (6) from the parking brake.

5. Remove springs (7) from the plate.

6. Remove plate (8). Remove three plates (9) and four disc assemblies (10).

7. Remove the bolt and retainer (11) from the shaft. Remove hub (12) from the shaft.

8. Remove shaft (13) from the bottom side of the cage.

9. Remove seal (14) from the cage. Remove ring (15) and bearing (16) from the cage.

Assemble Parking Brake

1. Install the bearing in the cage until it makes contact with the counterbore in the cage. Install the ring that holds
the bearing in position.

2. Install the lip type seal in the cage with tooling (A). Install the seal until it makes contact with the counterbore
in the cage and with the lip of the seal as shown.

3. Install shaft (1) from the bottom of the cage as shown.

4. Install hub (4) over the shaft as shown.

5. Install O-ring seal (3) in the end of the shaft.

6. Install retainer (2) and the bolt that holds it. Tighten the bolt to a torque of 85 ± 5 lb ft (115 ± 7 N·m).

7. Install four disc assemblies (5) and three plates (6). Start with a disc assembly then a plate.

8. Install large plate (8). Install springs (7).

9. Put the housing in position on the springs. Install bolts and tighten to a torque of 100 ± 10 lb ft (136 ± 14
N·m).

10. Install O-ring seals (11) in the bores of the housing assembly. Install spring (10) and piston (9) as shown.

11. Install the other two pistons, springs and O-ring seals in the bores in the housing assembly.

12. Install plates (12) on the housing assembly. Install the bolts that hold it.

End By:

a) install parking brake
