universo multidimensional (material, mental y espiritual)

debe conservarse
y máquina que no trabaja
obstaculiza la marcha del progreso.
El pequeño títere mecánico, metálico
movido por mil hilos visibles invisibles
obligado a danzar

Bajaba entonces siempre caminando
en la punta de los pies
y haciendo silencio con el dedo índice
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Dormite mi niña
dormite ya
que yo soy el aya
que te esconderá
y la Muerte
no te hallará

quedamos
y no sé si llamarme feliz o desdichado
eran llamados degenerados sexuales, mentales,
hombres con mentes y corazones medievales.
-“Los experimentos no son peligrosos, los realizamos
bajo tierra,
Aquí no queda nadie señor,
aquí no queda nada
ni piedra sobre piedra
ni hueso sobre hueso.
Pero usted, quién es, qué busca aquí,
a quién busca aquí
bajo este cielo sin estrellas
sobre esta tierra de cuerpos calcinados
39
mea culpa
mea culpa
mea máxima culpa.

Horacio Peña has always had a preoccupation, a central
thought rooted in the desire for human transcendence;
of the superior spiritual destiny of the human race. Since
his “Diary of a Young Man Who Went Mad” (1962), his
“The Solitude and the Desert”, “Ars Moriendi” and his
entire subsequent literary work, his poetry has been
impregnated of this prophetic vision, it is more than a
mere existential angst or romantic frustration. It is
beyond a simple deconstruction of his time or an
expression of hidden Freudian secrets; his is a
continuous call to start a profound interior
transformation, one of the souls, of our philosophy of
life, of which death is an intrinsic part. There is no death
without life, no life without death. These are the paths
that one day explored T.S. Eliot in “The Wasteland” and
St.-John Perse in “Anabasis”.

Slave am I of your caprices
my beloved
I am yours forever more
you are my first love
and you are my last love
So were they sung of so were they enchanted
but now Lady and Gentleman
enter in the dream of Death
jumbled with the bright bushy-haired boys
of the electric guitars
who played without rest
making delirious their mad hysteric admirers
the autograph hunters
who fainted hearing the “latest hits”
of the robust rockers
and the Three Live Ones and the Three Dead Ones
and the Peruzzi and the Bardi
I see them climbing, crossing the bridge,
and the money-changer and his wife
or the money-lender and his wife
those who knew and foresaw all the fluctuations of the
market
all of them dancing dancing dancing
with their hands empty
and their eyes empty
as the Crusader watched over his weapons
so they watched over their bank accounts
and now dance in emptiness.

57
Abelard and Heloise
--and their hands went
more towards breasts than toward books--
are dead.
From the movies and the theaters came the young
lovers
--she blonde and blue-eyed
wrapped in her rust-brown raincoat
and he with his jacket of leather suede--
joyous
young
living their love of every day,
they stopped before store windows
she stood on her toes to reach his lips
while he held her at the waist
they went through the parks
in the afternoon of spring.
But Death followed their steps
was in the black dahlia
and in the three drops of blood of the wild duck.
Montecorvino
and the other that only I remember
in charge of the songs
and the ceremonies of the dead
are coming down the Street Where No One Walks
dancing behind Her
--behind Death singing not of resurrection--
I fear something
that lives and is not seen
The king,
his reason gone
58
--insane,
utterly insane--
looked out upon the corridor
--only his head--
looked to the right and the left
like a corralled beast
grasped his crown with his two hands,
closed all the doors and the windows
and the silently
walking on the tips of his toes
he approached his throne
with his mantle unfurled
and striking the ground three times with his sceptre
Cried:--“Let the music begin, the dance”--
He descended then still walking
on the tips of his toes
and shushing with his index finger
ssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
he neared the royal bridal-bed
and lifting little by little the linen covers
discovered reposing on the bed
a doll dressed like a queen
which he took carefully by the arm
helping her to rise
and embraced her tenderly
caressed her hair
and they dance together in the royal bedchamber
while he sang her a lullaby
Sleep my child
sleep, now sleep
for I am the nanny
who will hide you
so Death
will not find you
59
At times they stopped in the center of the royal
bedchamber
he saying things in her ear while she laughed
and then continued the dance and the song
Love that can’t suffer cannot ask for pleasure
so he is condemned for his weakling desire
Arrurrú my child
arrurrú my love
From the watchtowers the soldiers kept vigil
so that She could not enter
and the mastiffs ran loose
and the bridge had been drawn
‘Tis a life lost to live without love
‘Tis better to change pleasure for pain
than to live without love
Arrurrú my child
arrurrú my love
In vain Guillaume de Harcigny
tried to calm the madness of the king
tried to waken him from his mad dream
from which only She will awaken us
To know love is to know suffering
love and suffer, suffer and feel
feel and die
Arrurrú my child
arrurrú my love
The courtesans looked through the key hole
moved their heads sadly
and cried, saying:
--“Madness has taken the most valiant king
this land has seen in one thousand years
or whom we have ever served--”
and all the kingdom was in mourning
Arrurrú my child

not in water, but in fire,

Everything is perfect everything in order
everything begins to be consumed
while She moves incessantly
adjusting the controls and the dials.
To each it shall be given according to his [measure
and he who comes first for that shall not receive more.
The dead begin to bury the dead.
Don’t look to see what remains behind
but look now at the fruit of the fig-tree
and the sun and the moon and the stars for the last
time.
Where the Dance began there it will end
over the same earth that we hate.

2. THE TRIUMPH OF DEATH
63
occupying space
half-warm still.
Since the beginning of time
She has accumulated triumph over triumph
like the unknown champion
who shows up at the last minute of the tourney
completely armored from his head to his foot,
with the visor down and the dreaded standard,
invincible, terrible.
Not giving Herself nor us any rest
--with Her there is no Truce of Death--.
Always indefatigable
not resting on the seventh day
but rather multiplying the hours and the days
so abundant is the reaping and the harvest.
Without sending hands to the vineyards
because She alone suffices to gather and store
all the grain in the granaries.
II
64
She had not changed in so many years
She was the same,
was the same sex of the withered womb
that had known men of every age
the same lewd and lascivious gesture
that arrested the movement of the man in the caves
while he sketched his bisons
and his naked chaste dancing figures,
the same that had known the man of the skyscrapers
and of the underground shelters against nuclear
attacks.
She was seen by the terrifed eyes of
the Swanscombe Man the Fontechevade Man
and the Man of the Race of Grimaldi.
The venous, blue, earthen hand
tended to the Neanderthal Man
the Man of Tonkin, Talgai, Wadjak,
the same sex of the withered womb
but ever palpitating and throbbing
and ever sucking
insatiable,
at all those others that have been discovered
and the Heidelberg Man
at the Galilean Man
the contractions and dilations of the enormous vulva of
Death
forever in constant hard spasms and orgasm
opening closing
imprisoning
losing them in the yellow-red folds
of the membranes of Her sex
the Homo Erectus
the Homo Sapiens
and to all the others already living this Death
65
--the Homo Atomicus--
and to all the others that will be discovered
beneath their civilizations of iron and steel
and chemistry and biochemistry.
All of them weeping and groaning
hiding themselves behind masks
forgetting that wheresoever the carcass is
there will the eagles be gathered together.
All battling against Her
and She alone against all
lifting Herself like an immense projectile
in a rocky desert plain.
All thinking to conquer Her in their laboratories
behind the microscope
studying the cell
and the cytoplasm and the protoplasm
but all reduced to that we saw
inside the crystal boxes
-pressing a button so that light might come over Death-
all with their arms and legs over their chests
crumpled
just as they came into the world so they left the world
by the power and grace of our Mistress and Lady.

and with the same foot it called to the shanties
and the miserable huts
lying along the lakes and rivers.
The noise of the machine with its eyes of steel
with its heart of rock crystal
with its womb of aluminum
the machine activated by electricity
and atomic energy
moving its tiny toothed tongue
at six thousand revolutions per second
with its protons, neutrons, and electrons
initiating the disintegration Alpha, Beta, Gamma
penetrating,
disintegrating matter and antimatter
and the synthetic flesh
born of synthetic semen
which was spilled
which was manufactured in synthetic coitus.
The noise of a machine was heard
its long shriek
descending and climbing the stairs
with the velocity of sound
with the velocity of light,
but no one noticed
either its presence or its absence
because Her face was in all facets of the diamond.
The men took photos with their cameras
then searched for the exact distance, the necessary
illumination,
the geometric ratio of the angle,
but the excessive light blinded them
and they did not see that the geometric ratio of sin or
blame
was Death.
67
They had eyes and didn’t see Her.
Her long piercing and shrill cry
descending from the pier
cutting the cables of the new ship
making it raise anchor
and then ascending again
mixing her scream
with the scream of the sirens of the departing [ship.
But they did not listen to Her
amused as they were
by sending into space their new mechanical [birds
by measuring liquid hydrogen
and the gas produced by the nuclear reactors
that would place in orbit their new mechanical [stars.
They had ears and didn’t hear Her.

he that had arrived the day before from the land
that is beyond the tree of Good and Evil,
the red man who entered at three in the afternoon
yet knowing the motto graven in fire
Lasciate ogni speranza voi ch’entrate
the red man who entered with the group but who was
not of the group
who was among men without being of men
-but loving them and suffering for them and in them-
made a rapid movement
trying to avoid Her contact
as he had done it before,
because only he among all of them knew and
recognized Her.
Distant, isolated,
he knew to recognize in the reflection of the opal ring
the true face of the Guide
and then he tried to warn the group
shouted with all his might
-already too late-
at the last man who disappeared forever
along the passageways.
Discovering himself with his cry,
betraying himself,
he was suddenly face to face with Death.
Then he tried to leave rapidly
spun on his heels
-but carried Death in those heels-
and trying to gain time he left
by the door which said: “Exit in Case of Emergency”.
But she went down more rapidly than he
not by the fire escape giving on the small alley
-as had the man of the country of the mandrake-
but by the elevator activated by the desire for
69
vengeance.
And the red man of the red smile
came down like the wind
sliding his white hands his long fingers
over the stairs
but knowing he was lost
but struggling as he had always done
in the great combat,
trying again to mock Her
but knowing that his hour had come
to discover the great enigma
-that which the tongue cannot describe nor the heart
know-
descending the stairs
stumbling
and hearing the noise of his persecutor in all the noises
descending by the fire escape
which gave on to a dead-end alley
where the others also waited for him:
The Man of the Joyless Street
The Man with Leontina and with the Tie with the
Butterfly Knot
and then
Parsifal or Percival
The Fisher King or the Sinner King
and then
The Pure Man Who Never Touched Woman,
now he too crossing the valley,
crossing the bridge called “The Bridge of the Two-edged
Sword”.
Now he would come to know the great enigma
that which he had not been able to read in Pisces
now he would know where they kept the cup with blood
with the blood that never stops flowing.

and the noise of the needles on the watches.
In the city the experts
the twenty five masters studied the positions
commenting:
the danger which menaced the queen
the danger of a double check losing a rook
-Turris Eburnea-
pawn takes pawn
………………...
-“A fine move”- She said, ironically,
“but you did not realize that you left a bishop
unguarded,
sorry” -and taking the piece She bent completely
forward
without regard for the trap that had been prepared for
Her
twelve moves later
…………………
pawn takes bishop
Still it isn’t good
to celebrate the Triumph over Death too soon.
She then discovered in the central diagonal
the danger that menaced Her
and saw that She had time
always would have all the time She wanted
and from the defense She passed to the counterattack
destroying the trap of the Knight
long castle
king rook’s pawn five
looking for the coronation of the pawn
a pawn that no one could stop.
Now he played not to save his life
nor the lives of those men
-that which they thought was life-
72
but he played to gain time
so that a child could be born that grew in the womb of a
woman
the woman and the old man offering him
-at the crossroads of hate-
milk and honey.
He looked at his watch
if he could contain the counterattack for a few minutes
bear the whole weight of the body of Death upon him
and he moved the piece
if he could gain time
-the child growing with the joy and pain of the Woman-
Regina Martyrum.
He moved the piece desperately
taking it between his fingers
king one king
knight takes queen, check
he changed the king’s square trying to save it
but always the shadow of Her pursuing it
-like a great flight of ravens blotting out the blue sky
like a gust of the millennium bearing symptoms of the
plague-
Her waylaying it
besieging it
blinding it
-and the womb of the Woman and the blessed fruit of
her womb-
check
check
check
check
check
what to do
where to run
73
where to protect his king
if all was sorrows and terrors
check
check
the next play and all was lost
and he heard the cry of the Triumph of Death
but he heard from afar the cry of joy of the Woman
announcing that she had brought into the world a new
child.

but it will be achieved.”
I don’t know anything about such things
I hardly know how to read or write
but I know that there were divided kingdoms and they
had to be destroyed
they were like an industrious city of ants working evil
-we were at the beginning of the right wing
not very far from the rotunda
and I saw Death flourishing
over its own living flesh
without it appearing to notice it.
Processions of flagellants fled to the streets
but they were persecuted like rabid beasts
they were delivered into synagogues
they were thrown in jails
taking them by force
before the kings and governors
and those that protested with their deaths, burning
themselves alive
were called sexual and mental degenerates,
men with medieval minds and hearts.
-“The experiments are not dangerous, we conduct them
underground,
in deserts, a thousand miles from the regions
inhabited by man”-
so they said,
but there was always a place
where the radioactive gases escaped
poisoning everything:
the fish and the birds the fruits and the grains.
And suddenly one morning we awoke in the middle of a
great war
-Gog against Magog-
and after the war, the plague, the famine,
75
Death fecundating, deflowering the body of the living.
Seated in front of the dead men
with all the blood of the night in my eyes
I see the tower and hear the weeping of my children.
Here no one is left, sir,
here there is nothing
not stone upon stone
not bone upon bone.
But you, who are you, what do you look for here,
for whom do you look here
beneath this sky without stars
over this land of calcinated bodies
Here I look for someone to teach me the art of
living out
the little that is left of me
and above all the art of dying without having to [say
mea culpa
mea culpa
mea maxima culpa
