Diferencias y Semejanzas Entre Empresas de Manufactura y Servicios
Diferencias y Semejanzas Entre Empresas de Manufactura y Servicios
Las diferencias entre las operaciones de manufactura y las de servicios se dividen en las
ocho categoras:
Empresa Manufacturera
Empresa de Servicios
Producto fsico, durable
Producto intangible, perecederos
La produccin se puede inventariar
La produccin no se puede inventariar
Poco contacto con el cliente
Alto contacto con el cliente
Tiempo de respuesta largo
Tiempo de respuesta corto
Mercados regionales, nacionales o
Mercados mayormente locales
internacionales
Instalaciones grandes
Instalaciones relativamente pequeas
Intensivo en capital
Intensivo en trabajo
Calidad fcil de medir
No es fcil medir la calidad
De estas 8 categoras 6 son las ms importantes de identificar y son las que veremos con
mayor detalle a continuacin:
La primera diferencia obedece a la
naturaleza material del producto. Los bienes
manufacturados son productos fsicos,
durables.
produccin. El contacto primario con la
clientela queda en manos de distribuidores y
vendedores al detalle.
Una diferencia conexa es el tiempo de
respuesta a la demanda del cliente. Los
fabricantes disponen generalmente de varios
das o semanas para satisfacer la demanda
del cliente,
Las instalaciones manufactureras atienden
con frecuencia a mercados regionales,
nacionales o incluso internacionales, por lo
cual suelen requerir grandes instalaciones,
un grado mayor de automatizacin y una
inversin de capital ms cuantiosa que las
instalaciones de servicios.
Product is your core offering. This is the thing that will fulfill the needs of your
customer. If your product is faulty, everything else fails. The attributes of the
product, vis-a-vis the attributes offered by competing products and substitutes, are
important in estimating the competitive scenario for the marketing strategy
formulation.
Price has a lot of impact on the service buyers satisfaction level. Often, paying a
higher price makes a customer more satisfied. Price is often considered a proxy for
quality and vice-versa. What is important to note that services being all the more
intangible, the price becomes an important factor for the actual service consumption
to happen, after service awareness and service acknowledgement.
Promotion plays a role in the perception the possible target audience may have
about your service. There has to be a fit between the promotion and the positioning.
Promotion leads to service (brand) recognition and further establishes a proxy to
evaluate quality of services based by potential customers.
Place refers to providing the product at a place which is convenient for consumers
to access. Place is synonymous with distribution. Various strategies such as
intensive distribution, selective distribution, exclusive distribution and franchising
can be used by the marketer to complement the other aspects of the marketing mix.
People are crucial in service delivery. The best food may not seem equally palatable
if the waitress is in a sour mood. A smile always helps. Intensive training for your
human resources on how to handle customers and how to deal with contingencies is
crucial for your success.
