METACOGNITIVE SKILLS AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN STUDENTS OF FOURTH AND FIFTH

GRADE OF SECONDARY, 2017

ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between metacognitive skills and
academic performance in the area of English in the fourth and fifth grade students of the I.E.
Nº 88042 "Las Palmas", Nuevo Chimbote - 2017. The present investigation has a quantitative
approach, of descriptive correlational cut, of correlational design. We worked with a sample
population of 109 students of fourth and fifth grade of secondary in the area of English. The
instruments used were the inventory of metacognitive skills, and the assessment register of the
III Bimester of the English area; the processing methods used were the Pearson correlation
statistic using the SPSS 24.0 programs and Excel tables. The results indicate that there is a
"high" correlation between the meta cognitive skills and the academic performance in the area
of English supported by a value r = 0,673. It was concluded that the metacognitive skills are
significantly related to the academic performance in the area of English in fourth and fifth
grade students of secondary school of IE No. 88042 "Las Palmas".

1. El resumen se redactará en inglés, ya que es el idioma más común de las

distintas revistas científicas.
2. El resumen debe ser legible y -casi- totalmente legible por todo el mundo,
incluso si la persona no es de su mismo campo
3. El resumen debe estar preparado para UNA revista, puede ser una específica o
una muy amplia como Science o Nature, no importa, pero debe estar escrito para
una sola revista.
La evaluación del resumen debe centrarse en dos aspectos diferentes:

 La forma del resumen: el resumen debe dividirse en tres partes diferentes, una
introducción amplia -con conceptos generales-, luego una introducción más
cercana -con conceptos relacionados con el propio campo del escritor-, y
finalmente una visión general de los resultados del escritor.
 El contenido propiamente dicho del resumen: el resumen debe responder a las
diferentes preguntas de las que hablamos en el vídeo: ¿Quiénes son los lectores a
los que va dirigido? ¿Qué ha hecho usted ? ¿Por qué lo hizo? ¿Qué ocurrió
 cuando lo hizo? ¿Qué significan sus resultados en la teoría y en la práctica?
¿Cuáles son los principales beneficios para los lectores? Y en cierta medida:
¿Qué queda sin resolver? (Esto último no es necesario para todos los artículos,
así que compruebe la revista a la que desea enviar su artículo)
 ¿Necesita que le tomen nota de algo en concreto? ¿Prefiere que los revisores
intervengan por la forma más que por el contenido en sí? Por favor, dígalo al
principio de la presentación de su resumen para que los compañeros sepan
qué evaluar con precisión.
