Jennifer: In the Greek language Petra means “carved in stone”, this city is located in a narrow
valley, it is literally carved into the rock. The Napatelo call this wonder “Raqmu” or “the lost city”
because 80% OF THE CITY IS STILL HIDDEN.
Saúl: Sand storms, earthquakes and numerous floods buried it to such an extent that currently
only 20% of the city is visitable, although excavations continue to unearth buildings.

30,000 people lived in this city.
Jennifer: One of the most surprising finds when visiting this wonder is the theater, an
architectural virguería excavated in the rock. At first it was believed that this 1st century
construction was of Roman origin, but what they did was remodel and perfect what the
Nabataeans had already built. The most surprising thing is its stands, perfectly dug into the side
of the mountain and where it is estimated that some 5,000 spectators gathered.
Saulo: The canyon that protected it and kept it hidden for centuries also holds some surprises.
Among them, some reliefs and sculptures that attest to the commercial essence of the
Nabataeans. In these creations you can distinguish merchants, camels and different objects that
show that Petra was not a coincidence or an isolated event: it was the maximum expression of a
cultured and cosmopolitan society.
