I've just purchased a book called Recipes for Teen Chefs for my 16-year-old daughter. All the recipes were chosen and
prepared by a team of teen chefs using fresh, local ingredients. The whole point of the book is to steer teenagers away
from processed foods and for them to learn to prepare foods that are low in fat and better for their growing bodies. The
fresh ingredients and gorgeous photos on each page are really enticing and fun. I'm looking forward to her making some
for me.

Two. You hear part of an interview with a 12-year-old inventor.

-Payton, tell us about your latest award-winning invention.

-Well, it's simple, really. I've redesigned the traditional sandbag used during floods so that it's lighter, more efficient, and
best of all, reusable.

-What gave you the idea?

-We've had so many floods in the UK, and communities have been so badly affected. I wanted to come up with a solution
to help people deal with these emergencies in a more effective, sustainable way.

Three. You hear a teenage girl talking about sending notes.
When cleaning out my bedroom, I came across all the notes my friends used to pass on to me. Lots and lots of them.
Some were written in a special code so no one else would be able to understand the message. I remember we'd fold the
notes up tightly and pressed them urgently into each other's sweating hands in the school corridor between lessons or
exchange them when the teacher's back was turned, so there was no danger of getting into trouble. Before we were
allowed mobiles, our coded messages were a fun way of guarding our privacy.

Mr. Morton has been with us at our school for the past 15 years. During that time, he has produced superb exam results
year after year while communicating his love of books and literature in some very unusual ways. We all have a lot to
thank him for, particularly the students he has helped to go on to higher education in all sorts of fields. Many of them
have now made significant careers for themselves. Now that Mr. Morten has reached pension age, we are really sorry to
see him leave. I'm sure all students and staff will join me in wishing him all the very best in the future.

-Well, I Will if you're serious about it.

-What do you mean? Of course I am. You know I've always wanted to learn the Latin stuff and get more into dance. Yeah,
but what about the Gym last year? You soon gave that up.

-Yeah, but it's not the same. I only did that to please Kate, and when she stopped, it wasn't fun anymore.

I want to get that new phone when it hits the shops.

Why is that? What's wrong with the one you've got? Too big?

No, but the new one will be self-charging.

What do you mean?

The display on the new one will work like a solar panel on houses, so you won't have to worry about battery life so much,
which I think is a big plus.

So you won't have to plug it in then?

I'm not sure, because I don't know what happens if you leave it on at night and I don't know how long it takes to charge
up if it's not plugged in.

Sounds like you'd better do some research.

got some free tickets and his mate can't come, so I thought you might like to. It'll be a great atmosphere at the ground.
The game's being televised too, which will make being at the home end more fun. You know how the fans play up for the
cameras? Anyway, let me know soon or my dad will find someone else to pass the ticket onto.
