VOZ PASIVA EN INGLÉS

En el inglés existen dos tipos de voces al momento de expresar o redactar una oración: voz
activa o active voice y voz pasiva o passive voice. La voz activa es la que comúnmente
encontramos en casi todas las oraciones. Por ejemplo: “The man dropped the pen on the
floor”. Como pueden ver, es una oración donde se le da principal importancia al sujeto por encima
de la acción. Por otro lado, la voz pasiva se encarga de dar más importancia a la acción que al
sujeto que la realiza. Por ejemplo: The pen was dropped on the floor by the man. Aquí se le da más
importancia a la acción de “soltar la birome” que saber quién lo soltó.

Estructura de la voz pasiva en inglés.

Sujeto + verbo to be (en tiempo verbal de la AV) + participio pasado (3 col) + adverbio +
complemento.
PV “The pen was dropped on the floor by the man”

¿Cómo construir una oración en voz pasiva a partir de una oración en voz activa?
El objeto de la oración activa pasa a ser el sujeto de la pasiva
El verbo principal es sustituido por el auxiliar “to be”, en su mismo tiempo, junto al verbo principal
en tiempo participio
El sujeto de la oración principal pasa a ser el complemento agente de la oración en voz pasiva
Si hacemos mención en la oración del sujeto que realiza la acción (sujeto agente), éste debe ir
acompañado por la preposición “by”.

Por ejemplo (los marcaremos con colores en clases)

Bruno Mars sang that song. (Bruno Mars cantó esa canción)

That song was sung by Bruno Mars (Esa canción fue cantada por Bruno Mars)

Tom Hanks acts in the movie “The Da Vinci Code”. (Tom Hanks actúa en la película “El código Da
Vinci”)

The movie “The Da Vinci Code” is acted by Tom Hanks (La película “El código Da Vinci” es actuada
por Tom Hanks)

John is moving the chair (John está moviendo la silla)

The chair is being moved by John (La silla está siendo movida por John)
Carlos will pay the dinner (Carlos pagará la cena)

The dinner will be paid by Carlos (La cena será pagada por Carlos)

Mucho cuidado con la concordancia verbo/sujeto al pasar la oración a voz pasiva. Por ejemplo:

Will ate three pizzas (Will comió tres pizzas)

Three pizzas were eaten by Will. (Tres pizzas fueron comidas por Will)

Completa las oraciones con los verbos entre paréntesis en voz pasiva.
