La Vuelta de Tuerca
Benjamin Britten (Lowestoft, Inglaterra 1913 - Aldeburgh 1976) estrenó The Turn of the Screw en el Teatro de La
Fenice de Venecia el 14 de septiembre de 1954 con un enorme éxito.
La estructura musical de la obra se basa en que cada escena va precedida por una variación sobre un tema que, en el
desenlace, vuelve a la tonalidad inicial, describiendo a lo largo de la acción un giro en forma de tuerca. La ópera
requiere una orquesta de cámara de 13 músicos.
El libreto, dividido en dos actos, es obra de Myfanwy Piper, basado en la novela homónima de Henry James.
