Do you understand class?

Okay, very good.

1. Review
Good morning class!
Yes, Teacher.
Anyone can remember our lesson
yesterday?

What is it all about?

Good morning teacher!
Correct, very good class.

The formula of finding the area of a Yes, teacher

circle is
All about finding the area of a circle.

For example the given problem is the

circle has a 9cm radius (r)

Can someone solved for its Area?

Area = π × r2 or A= πr^2

Everybody are raising their hands

(Teacher call one student to answer
the given.)

A = π × r²
= π × (9) ²
= π × (9cm) (9cm)
2. Motivation =π x 81cm²
Do you know what is this class? = 3.14 x 81cm²
A= 254.34 cm²

It's a cube teacher.

Very good class! It's a cube. How about

this one?

It's a rectangle teacher.

Very good it's a 3D rectangle.

Those are solid figures that are three

dimensional. What are those “it is the length, width and height”
dimensions?

“Pupils may give an exact or an

estimate answer.”
Very Good, how many cubes are there now here
in my Rubik’s cube?
“we looked for its volume”

When we get the total number of cubes on that

container, what we have looked for?

3. Presentation
Now, we are going to learn about
finding the volume of a given cube and Yes, teacher.
rectangular prism.
Are you ready to learn class?

B. Establishing the purpose of After our lesson you are expected to:
the lesson  Understand the meaning of volume in
(Engage) cube and prism
 Finds the volume of a given cube and
rectangular prism using cu. cm and cu.
m.
 Appreciate the value of understanding
the concept of and being able to find
the volumes of cubes and rectangular
prisms.
C. Pag-uugnay ng mga What is volume by the way?
halimbawa sa bagong aralin “It is the amount of space occupied by
(Engage) any quantity”

What is cube?
“It is a solid figure that has all equal
sides”

What is a Rectangular Prism? “a polyhedron with two congruent and

parallel bases”

Very GOOD! Give yourselves an “Ang Galing

Clap” Teacher demonstrates the “Ang
Galing Clap”
Everyone Claps

How do we get the volume of a cube and

rectangular prism. Anyone?

In finding the volume of a cube we can Use

the formula of V= s^3 , while on rectangular
prism we use the formula V= L x W x H.

I have here a cube class, can you help me to

measure its width, length and it's height? Yes, teacher.

Okay, then we will take note its measure.

Example:
Length = 3
Width - 3
Height = 3
What can you observe from the
measurement? The measurements are equal teacher.

Very good! Because it's a cube it is normal

that the measurements are equal.

Look at this another exam of shape. What

shape is this again? It's a rectangle teacher.

That's correct. Does rectangle has same

equal measurements like cube? No teacher

Yes, teacher.

Yes, that's correct. Let us measure this

rectangle that I bring.

Let's observe that both cube and

rectangular prism has height, width and length.
Understand class?

D. Discussing new concepts Class, do you know what is this? (The teacher
and practicing new skills # 1 will show a Rubik's cube)
It's a Rubik's cube teacher.

It has a length, width and height of 3 inches.

Can you count how many layers are there?
3 teacher

How many cubes in one

layer class? 9 teacher
Very good! The small
cubes here is called
cubic units.
Can someone count how many cubic units in this
3 x 3 x 3 cube?
There are 27 cubic units
Very good! If how many cubes can occupy a
space is called a volume. Understand class?
Yes teacher.
There are 9 🔲 in each layer.
There are 3 layers.
Then the volume is 3 x 3 x 3 = 27 🔲's
Hence, there are 27 🔲's in Rubik's cube.
E. Discussing new concepts How we are going to find the volume of
and practicing new skills # 2 both cube and rectangular prism.

What's more easy class, make a lot of

square to know the cubic units or use a
formula? Use formula teacher.

Very good! Let's learn the formula of the

volume of cube and rectangular prism.

V=l ×w ×h

L - length
W - width
H - height

Let's have an example.

V=l ×w ×h
=5×3×4
= 15 × 4
= 60cm³
Another
example:
V=l ×w ×h
=4×5×3
= 20 × 3
= 60cm³

V=S×S ×S
=5×5×5
Next example:
= 25 × 5
= 125cm³

F. Developing mastery (Leads

to formative assessment 3)
(Explain)

You know what is this class?

Very good! Let's measure the volume of this

pool. The pool has 5 m length, 2 meters
height and 7 meters width. Pool teacher.

How many volume does it have?

V=l ×w ×h
=5×2×7
= 10 × 7
= 70m³ V=l ×w ×h
So, it has? =5×2×7
Very good! = 10 × 7
Are you ready to solve for more class? = 70m³
(Teacher will let the pupils to answer on board)
70m³ teacher.

Yes, teacher.

V=l ×w ×h
=8×4×4
= 32 × 4
=128cm³

V=l ×w ×h
= 15 × 10 × 15
= 150 × 15
= 2,250cm³

V=S ×S ×S
= 10 × 10 × 10
= 100 × 10
= 1000cm³

V=l ×w ×h
= 15 × 7 × 20
= 105 × 20
= 2,100cm³

G. Finding practical i will group you into 4 groups.

applications of concepts and I have bring here a cube and a rectangular
skills in prism. Each group will measure the length,
daily living width and the height of the cube and rectangle.
(Elaborate) Then, you will find its volume using the formula.
V=l ×w ×h
H. Making generalizations Class what should we do to get the volume of
and abstractions about the the cube and rectangular prism?
lesson Get the length, width and height.
Very good! Then what's next?
Multiply each other teacher.
That's correct
I. Evaluate Learning Direction: Find the volume of the following objects.
(Evaluate)

J. Additional activities for Complete the table.
