PROPÓSITO DE APRENDIZAJE: el estudiante al terminar las actividades de la presente guía, tendrá la capacidad
de identificar el adjetivo y sus diferentes grados de comparación para realizar comparaciones.

Asian or African?
The African elephant is bigger and heavier than the Asian elephant.
Some people also say that it is stronger. The African elephant is taller
than the Asian elephant and it’s got longer legs. The Asian elephant has
got smaller ears than the African elephant and its tusks are shorter.
The Asian lion is smaller and lighter than the African lion. The male has
got a shorter, darker mane. The African lion is stronger and heavier than
the Asian lion. Some people also say that it is fiercer. The male has got
a longer, thicker mane.

THE ADJECTIVE
When two or more adjectives come after one of these verbs (be, seem, appear, become, get, look, feel...),
they should be separated by “and”.

REGULAR AND IRREGULAR VERBS

REGULAR VERBS form their past and past participle forms by adding –ed.
Example: - I watch TV in the morning, I watched TV last night, I have watched TV since last night.
- They usually cook delicious meal, but last night, they cooked an amazing meal.
Spelling rules:
 Regular verbs ending in a silent e take /-d/ in the simple past and past participle: close=closed
 Regular verbs ending in a vowel + y take /-ed/ in the simple past and past participle: play=played
 Regular verbs ending in a consonant + y take /-ied/ in the simple past and past participle (the “Y” becomes an “ i “
followed by /-ed/): marry=married
 All the other regular vebs take /-ed/ in the simple past and past participle: visit=visited
Special cases of the -ed forms:

1. If there is a consonant after a stressed vowel at the end of the word, double the consonant:
- stop – stopped
- ban - banned
- swap - swapped /id/ /t/ /d/
2. If the vowel is not stressed, we do not double it:
- open - opened (Here the stress is on'o', not the 'e'.)
- offer - offered ( Here the stress is on 'o', not the 'e'.)
3. In British English we double the last l even though the

last vowel is not stressed. Here are some examples:
- travel – travelled - cancel – cancelled

ACTIVIDAD DE CIERRE
1. Escribe un texto descriptivo en inglés en el que compares 3 países, 3 ciudades, 3 animales, 3
objetos, 3 lugares, 3 planetas o 3 personas o artistas famosas. El texto debe contener al
menos 2 comparativos de igualdad, 2 de inferioridad, 2 de superioridad y 2 en superlativo.
Ten en cuenta redactar el texto de forma coherente, usando conectores, signos de
puntuación y la ortografía adecuada.
2. Luego realice un mapa mental con el texto descriptivo realizado.

METODOLOGIA:
Los estudiantes deben leer atentamente el contenido de la guía, y ver los videos complementarios de los links.
Se requiere de la participación activa por parte de los alumnos, quienes deberán realizar constantes actividades
prácticas de aprendizaje para desarrollar y afianzar su aprendizaje. El saber HACER se evalúa del trabajo realizado en
clase, por lo que la asistencia, puntualidad y participación en clases será factor determinante para esta valoración. El
saber SABER se evalua mediante Quizzes programados. La actitud, puntualidad, participación, responsabilidad,
recursividad en la solución de problemas, respeto por los demás y cuidado del entorno, serán tomados en cuenta para
valoración final de la nota del saber SER. Por lo que se exhorta a los estudiantes a dar su mayor esfuerzo para realizar
todas las actividades planeadas para esta guía y periodo.
