PRUEBA DE INGLÉS

La prueba Saber en su módulo de inglés

se encarga de evaluar la competencia
comunicativa en el idioma extranjero.
Sus niveles de desempeño están
alineados con el Marco Común Europeo
de Referencia (MCER), el cuál es el
estándar internacional que define la
competencia lingüística.

La prueba, al evaluar las habilidades en la lengua extranjera, se centra el uso del

inglés y la comprensión lectora. Esta competencia se clasifica en los niveles –A1,
A1,A2, B1 y B2, siendo –A1 un nivel desempeño mínimo en el manejo de vocabulario
y estructuras básicas del idioma. Los siguientes niveles van de manera ascendente.

El módulo de inglés están conformado

por 7 partes, cada una de ellas evalúa
diferentes habilidades de la lengua
extranjera. Este módulo tiene en total
45 preguntas de opción de respuesta
múltiple con única respuesta.

means it is safe. People should not be afraid of

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is celebrated in the USA on the 4th Thursday of November. The

tradition comes from the first people to arrive from England to North America.
The Native Americans taught them to grow food and hunt, and the pilgrims
invited the Native Americans for a dinner after the harvest. This was the first
Thanksgiving in common folklore.

Nowadays, Thanksgiving is the country’s largest secular holiday and represents a

time when friends and family get together for a large turkey dinner. Traditionally
people make stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and
pumpkin pie to go with the huge roast turkey.

In the morning, there is a massive parade in NYC called the Macy’s Thanksgiving
Day parade, which has a lot of giant balloons, famous people, and marching
bands. In the afternoon, people watch American football games. There is usually
one game in the afternoon and one in the evening.

Thanksgiving also marks the unofficial

beginning of the Holiday season in
America. The Friday after Thanksgiving,
which is the following day, is black
Friday and has a lot of crazy sales. Also,
it is traditional to start putting up
Christmas decorations after
Thanksgiving if your family celebrates
Christmas.

The Effects of Stress

There is a famous expression in English: "Stop the world, I want to get off!" This
expression refers to a feeling of panic, or stress, that makes a person want to
stop whatever they are doing, try to relax, and become calm again. 'Stress'
means pressure or tension. It is one of the most common causes of health
problems in modern life. Too much stress results in physical, emotional, and
mental health problems.

There are numerous physical effects of stress. Stress can affect the heart. It can
increase the pulse rate, make the heart miss beats, and can cause high blood
pressure. Stress can affect the respiratory system. It can lead to asthma. It can
cause a person to breathe too fast, resulting in a loss of important carbon
dioxide. Stress can affect the stomach. It can cause stomach aches and
problems digesting food. These are only a few examples of the wide range of
illnesses and symptoms resulting from stress.

Emotions are also easily affected by stress. People suffering from stress often
feel anxious. They may have panic attacks. They may feel tired all the time. When
people are under stress, they often overreact to little problems.
 For example, a normally gentle parent under a lot of stress at work may yell at a
child for dropping a glass of juice. Stress can make people angry, moody, or
nervous.

Long-term stress can lead to a variety of serious mental illnesses. Depression,

an extreme feeling of sadness and hopelessness, can be the result of continued

of overuse of alcohol or drugs to try to relieve stress. Eating disorders, such as
anorexia, are sometimes caused by stress and are often made worse by stress.
If stress is allowed to continue, then one's mental health is put at risk.

It is obvious that stress is a serious

problem. It attacks the body. It affects
the emotions. Untreated, it may
eventually result in mental illness.
Stress has a great influence on the
health and well-being of our bodies,
our feelings, and our minds. So, reduce
stress: stop the world and rest for a
while.

claves como ‘How’ ‘affect’ y ‘emotionally’, luego al dirigirse al
texto se debe identificar este vocabulario. En el tercer párrafo
se encuentran estas palabras y así se concluye que el estrés
genera ansiedad y puede producir ataques de pánico. Las otras
dos opciones no son correctas, pues la opción B habla de un
problema físico y la opción C habla de situaciones que pueden
llevar a una adicción, las cuales no responden a la pregunta.

La parte 7 del módulo emplean el mismo tipo de pregunta que la

parte 4, sin embargo su diferencia radica en que el texto de la
sección 7 es de un nivel de complejidad superior al de la parte 4.

Este tipo de pregunta consiste en leer un texto o artículo, el cual

tiene 10 espacios en blanco. Se debe escoger la palabra que
mejor complete de manera que la frase sea coherente.

Robot Teachers

If you think of the jobs robots could never do, you (0) _______ probably put
doctors and teachers at the top of the list. It's easy to imagine robot cleaners and
factory workers, but some jobs need human connection and creativity. But are
we underestimating what robots can do? In some cases, they already (1)

Could there be a place for robots in education

after all?
British education expert Anthony Seldon thinks
so. And he even has a date for the robot takeover

the main job of transferring information and
teachers will be like assistants. Intelligent robots
will read students' faces, movements and maybe
even brain signals.
Then they will adapt the information to each student. It's not a popular opinion
and it's unlikely robots will ever have empathy and the ability to really connect
with humans like another human can.
One thing is certain, though. A robot teacher is better than no teacher at all. In
some parts of the world, there aren't enough teachers and 9–16 per cent of
children under the age of 14 don't go to school. That problem could be partly
solved by robots because they can teach anywhere and won't get stressed, or
tired, or move somewhere for an easier, higher-paid job.
 Those negative aspects of teaching are something everyone agrees on. Teachers
all over the world are leaving because it is a difficult job and they feel
overworked. Perhaps the question is not 'Will robots replace teachers?' but 'How
can robots help teachers?' Office workers can use software to do things like
organise and answer emails, arrange meetings and update calendars. Teachers
waste a lot of time doing non-teaching work, including more than 11 hours a
week marking homework. If robots could cut the time teachers spend marking
homework and writing reports, teachers would have more time and energy for
the parts of the job humans do best.
