COGNADOS1

Son aquellas palabras que por su origen cultural o lingüístico nos permiten
reconocerlas o identificarlas con las voces utilizadas en nuestro propio idioma. Su
naturaleza análoga los hace fáciles de reconocer y de interpretar en diversos
idiomas.

Veamos algunos ejemplos:

Institution = institución techique = técnica

Usual = usual dictionary = diccionario
Collective = colectivo optic = óptico

Sin embargo, debemos estar conscientes de que pueden existir COGNADOS

FALSOS y para saber distinguirlos hay que conocer su uso de una lengua a otra.

DOCUMENTS: Animals

Animals can damage book and documents by simple mechanical destruction, as when
mice tear up paper for nest-making, or by fouling as when bats, birds, cats or mice deposit
excrement or fleas. It is not difficult to design a building, or protect a part of it, so that the
unwanted access by animals is impossible, though bats and mice can find their way
through remarkably small holes.

Where there is a risk that birds may enter down chimneys or through open doors or broken
windows, the open spaces can be covered by wire mesh. Neither chimney, fireplaces nor
ventilators should be blocked up unless for some extraordinary reason this is absolutely
unavoidable; instead, strong wire grids should be used to cover them so as not to interfere
with air movement.

However, if birds are not a direct problem unless they actually enter a book store ( when
their excrements is remarkably damaging, for it is chemically highly reactive ) they can
present an indirect problem. Their nest are filthy and provide a rich source for many
insects that can attack books, as can the dead bodies of fledglings and mature birds.
Thus, birds in the roof or in any space connecting with a book store are a source of
infestations and they must be eliminated.
