Sumérgete en el Inglés
More than English
inglés, porque Pueblo Inglés es “More Than English”.

Common Error - Gracioso
This is a simple concept: Disneyland and the water park are fun, a comedian is funny.
Funny is something that makes you laugh. Students often INCORRECTLY say, ‘The go
kart place was very funny’.
5
Idiom - Can’t stand/bear it
Everybody has their limit. There are things that are too painful, too sad or too re-
petitive, and we can’t deal with them. We use the expressions ‘can’t stand it/
can’t bear it’ to describe those situations. Interestingly, grammar books don’t
agree about whether or not use must use a gerund or infinitive after ‘stand’. I
can’t stand to see/seeing.
I can’t stand seeing so much trash on the ground. – No aguanto ver tanta basura
en el suelo.
She can’t bear to see him suffer. – Ella no aguanta verle sufrir.
I just can’t stand it anymore. – Ya no aguanto más.

Common Error - On May
This is a simple rule that students often have a hard time remembering: with months,
we use the preposition ‘in’. I was born in April, NOT ‘on April’.
11
Idiom - Cheeky
This word is used primarily in Britain to describe somebody who has little shame or
contradictory feelings when he or she needs to ask for something or do something
that might not be seen favorably. In the U.S. people say that this type of person
‘has a lot of nerve’.
