8. Blow up
Explotar: The fire made the car blew up / El fuego hizo que el auto explotara.
Explotar con una bomba: The building was so old, so it was blown up / El edificio era muy viejo, así
que fue derribado.
9. Break down
Dejar de funcionar / romperse (arruinarse): My car broke down a few minutes ago / My carro dejó de
funcionar hace unos minutos.
10. Break up
Terminar con alguien: After five year of relationship, they broke up / Después de cinco años de
relación, ellos terminaron.
11. Bring up
Hacerse cargo de alguien: Her grandparents brought her up all this time / Sus abuelos se hicieron

Cerrar (un negocio), apagar algo: If sales don’t go up, I’ll have to close down / Si las ventas no
suben, tendré que cerrar el negocio.

Volver / regresar (a un lugar): The doctor is going to come back soon / El doctor va volver pronto.
27. Come up
Traer un tema a conversación: During the meeting, some interesting facts came up to discussion /
Durante la reunion, algunos datos interesantes surgieron a discusión.

Tachar: Cross out the information we don’t need / Tacha la información que no necesitamos.
29. Cut down
Reducir algo: I’m trying to cut down on my budget, I’m spending too much / Estoy intentando recortar
