THE APOSTROPHE S
El apostrofe S se usa para mostrar posesión. La familia de los Simpson
Use the apostrophe S to show possession. The Simpson’s family
RULES : REGLAS
In singular nouns, add ´S. En sustantivos singulares, adiciona ´S
Marge is Lisa ´S mother. Marge es la mamá de Lisa.
In proper nouns ending by S, add the En sustantivos propios terminados en S,adiciona el
apostrophe (´) after the noun. apostrophe después del sustantivo. Bety es la mamá
Betty is Andrés’ mother de Andrés.
Manizales’ people. Las personas de Manizales.
 In plural nouns use ´after the noun. En sustantivos plurales usa ´después delsustantivo.
The students’ class. La clase de los estudiantes.

In irregular plurals use ´S after the noun.
The children’s class.
If two people possess the same item,
put theapostrophe + s after the second
name only.
Lisa is Homer and Marge’s daughter.
In separate possession, use ´S for both.
Lisa and Ling are Marge’s and
Selma’sdaughters.
En plurales irregulares usa ´S después del
sustantivo.

Si dos personas poseen el mismo item,adiciona el
