Parte Uno
Así, en ciertas psicosis de las personas que alucinan, cansados de siempre ser
insultados por sus demonios, un buen día empiezan a escuchar la voz de un ángel que le
dice cumplidos; pero las burlas no paran del todo; solo, a partir de entonces, se alternan
con felicitaciones. Esta es una defensa, pero es también el final de la historia.
El yo es disociado, y el paciente se dirige hacia la locura.

PRÓLOGO
Un foco baña el disco blanco de un tambor africano hasta que resplandece como la luna
redonda arriba de él. Abajo de la luna está la silueta recortada de una montaña
volcánica. Si se invierte, la luna se convierte en el sol. Una bailarina entra y se sienta con
el tambor entre las piernas. Del otro lado del escenario entra una figura con sombrero de
copa, vestido de frac y con guantes blancos, la mitad de su cara está maquillada de
blanco como la figura del Barón Samedi, y se agacha detrás de la bailarina. A medida
que el lamento comienza, la bailarina y la figura ondean sus brazos lentamente,
sinuosamente, con un movimiento arácnido. La figura se eleva durante el lamento y toca
el disco de la luna. El tamborilero se levanta bailando como en cámara lenta, indicando,
dos celdas que emergen, separadas en la superficie, a cada lado del escenario. En una
celda Tigre y Souris, dos delincuentes medio desnudos están riñendo. La figura se aleja

DREAM ON MONKEY MOUNTAIN
Thus in certain psychoses the hallucinated person, tired of always being insulted by
his demon, one fine day starts hearing the voice of an angel who pays him
compliments; but the jeers don’t stop for all that; only from then on, they alternate
with congratulations. This is a defence, but it is also the end of the story. The self is
disassociated, and the patient heads for madness.

PROLOGUE
A spotlight warns the white disc of an African drum until it glows like the round moon
above it. Below the moon is the stark silhouette of a volcanic mountain. Reversed,
the moon becomes the sun. A dancer enters and sits astride the drum. From the
opposite side of the stage a top-hatted, frock-coated figure whit white gloves, his
face halved by white make-up like the figure of Baron Samedi, enters and crouches
behind the dancer. As the lament begins, dancer and figure wave their arms slowly,
sinuously, with a spidery motion. The figure rises during the lament and touches the
disc of the moon. The drummer rises, dancing as if in slow motion, indicating as their
areas grow distinct, two prison cages on either side of the stage. In one cell, TIGRE
and SOURIS, two half-naked felons are squabbling. The figure strides off slowly, the
NARRADOR and CHORUS, off-stage, increase the volume of their lament.

(As the CORPORAL, like an animal tamer, cracks out his orders, the choir of
JUDGES keeps time, clapping)

nauseabunda…
