Queridos estudiantes, reciban un cordial y afectuoso saludo de parte de la institución educativa Chiloé,

especialmente de sus docentes de Inglés. Deseamos de todo corazón que ustedes y sus familias se

encuentren bien y gocen de buena salud, esperamos que esta situación tan difícil que estamos atravesando
pronto termine y dé paso a una nueva época en la que nos volvamos a encontrar seguramente más

conscientes del papel tan importante que todos desempeñamos en esta sociedad y como parte del planeta.

Este módulo fue diseñado por las docentes de inglés de la institución con el fin que ustedes puedan tener

acceso al aprendizaje que normalmente estaríamos obteniendo por medio de una clase presencial o virtual y

que por razones del confinamiento en casa y la falta de conectividad no es posible. Todos estos

inconvenientes no son obstáculos para el aprendizaje siempre que se tenga la disposición, la disciplina y las

ganas de aprender. Somos conscientes que no es fácil aprender sin una guía cerca de ustedes, pero

conocemos también la capacidad de nuestros estudiantes y sus ganas de seguir adelante, por lo tanto

esperamos que las explicaciones aquí contenidas y las actividades propuestas sean de su ayuda en tanto

todo vuelva a la normalidad.

Cada tema tiene su explicación teórica y luego una actividad para practicarlo, cada actividad propuesta es

para ser desarrollada en una semana por lo tanto deben tomarse el tiempo necesario para desarrollarla y

deben hacerlo en la misma guía sin necesidad de pasar estos contenidos al cuaderno.

Esperamos volver a verlos pronto, pero mas que nada deseamos que al final de esta situación todos estemos

bien.

GUÍA # 2: PAST SIMPLE


USES

This tense is used to talk about actions finished in the past


For example: Yesterday, My mom prepared a delicious pizza.

My brother broke a window last week


GRAMMAR
To use this tense is necessary to differentiate between two type of verbs: regular and irregular verbs.

IRREGULAR VERBS IN PAST

As you already know irregular verbs don’t follow any rules to be conjugated so you must learn them by heart. In the next
chart you are going to find a list of some of the most common irregular verbs in English, so memorize them.

REGULAR VERBS IN PAST

This type of verbs follow some rules to form the past of the verb. So practice them before learn more about the past
simple.

SPELLING RULES

To form the past or conjugate the regular verbs in past simple you must follow the next rules
1. If the verb ends in -e, add -d Ex: live – lived
2. If the verb ends in a vowel plus -y, add -ed Ex: play – played
3. If the verb ends in a consonant plus -y, change -y for -I and add -ed Ex: study – studied
4. If the verb has 1 syllable and ends in c-v-c, repeat the las consonant and add -ed Ex: snap – snapped
5.If the verb does not belong to the before rules only add -ed. Ex: paint – painted
