Qu es la quinua?
La quinua (Chenopodium Quinoa Willd.) es un grano originario de
la zona altiplnica de la Cordillera de Los Andes. Tradicionalmente
crece en tierras ridas y semiridas, con una amplia variabilidad
gentica de ms de tres mil ecotipos y con capacidad de
adaptabilidad a las adversidades climticas y diversos pisos
ecolgicos desde 4.000 metros sobre el nivel del mar hasta el nivel
del mar.
La quinua es un alimento alternativo estratgico y potencial para
contribuir a la seguridad alimentaria y nutricional de la humanidad,
por ello se constituye en un regalo de Los Andes al mundo.
What is quinoa?
Quinoa (Chenopodium Quinoa Willd.) is a grain native to the
highlands region of the Andes mountain range. It traditionally grows
in arid and semi-arid soils and has wide genetic variability, with
more than three thousand ecotypes, and excellent adaptability to
harsh climates and diverse eco-strata reaching from 4000 meters
altitude down to sea level.
Quinoa is a strategic alternative food that offers great potential to
contribute to food and nutrition security for humanity; it is for this
reason that it is considered a gift to the world from the Andes.

In its native region, organic quinoa production is encouraged, following ancestral techniques and in line with
current national and international standards for organic
products. The preservation of the traditional cultivation
system is a fundamental characteristic of quinoa production, employing methods that respect the environment
and protect Mother Earth.
