Checking into a hotel in Spanish

 If you're traveling abroad, knowing a few

Spanish hotel words and phrases can help you
find good hotel accommodations in a Spanish-
speaking area.
 Buenos días, quiero reservar una habitación por este sábado.
 Good morning, I want to reserve a room for this Saturday.

 ¿Para cuántas personas?- For how many people?

 Para dos, con dos camas y baño For two, with two beds and a bath tub.

 Vale. ¿Quieres el desayuno? - OK. Do you want breakfast?

 No, gracias, sólo la habitación - No, thanks, just the room.

 ¿Por cuánto tiempo?- for how long?
 Por el fin de semana- the weekend
 Por el primero de mayo- 1 May
 Por el veintidós de diciembre- The 22 of December
 Desde el 15 de agosto hasta el 20 de agosto – from the 15th of August to the
20th of August
 por diez días- for 10 days

 una habitación sencilla- individual single room- Me gustaría una habitación- I would like a single room
 para una persona- for one person- La habitación es para una persona- The room is for one person

 la habitación doble- double occupancy - Me gustaría una habitación doble.

 La cama extra- extra bed- La cama extra está sucia- The extra bed is dirty
 el balcón - balcony- Les gustaría una habitación con un balcón- Would you all like a room with a balcony
 el aire acondicionado air conditioning- El aire acondicionado no está funcionando- The air conditioning is not
working

The following dialogue shows what could be
a common dialogue between a traveller and a
hotel receptionist.

Anita has just arrived in town, and she’s at the

front desk of a large hotel. She asks for a
room for the night.
 Anita- Necesito una habitación, con baño- I need a room, with bath.
 Recepcionista- ¿Le prefiere hacia la calle o hacia el patio?- Do you prefer a
room facing the street the patio?
 Anita- Prefiero hacia el patio en el primer piso - I prefer it toward the patio.
On the first floor
 Receptionista- Muy bien, señora- Very well madam.
 Receptionista- Tengo disponible en el primer piso la habitación número ciento
diecinueve. ¿Quiere verla? - Room 119 is available on the first floor. Do you want to see it?

 Anita- Sí, quiero verla- Yes, I want to see it.


Receptionista- Pedro, acompañe a la señora a la habitación ciento diecinueve. Aquí está la

llave- Pedro, take the lady to room 119. Here’s the key.

Anita- Me gusta la habitación ciento diecinueve. La voy a tomar- I like room 119. I’m going to

take it.

Receptionista- ¿Cuántos días desea quedarse?- How many days do you want to stay?

Anita- Me quedo por tres dias- I’m staying for three days.

Receptionista- Haga el favor de registrarse. El desayuno no está incluido en el precio. – Please

check in. Breakfast is not included in the price.

Anita- ¿Cómo pago. Con efectivo o tarjeta?
How do I pay. Cash or credit card?
Receptionista- Como usted le gusta- Whichever you like.
Anita- Muchas gracias- Thank you very much
Receptionista- ¡Como no! ¡Que pase buenas noches!
