Whales in Chile
Chile is the longest country in the world, which makes its coastline one of the
best places to see the largest animals in the ocean: whales. With more than 40
species swimming in the Chilean waters to feed on their journey from the tropics to
Antarctica, from December to May.
Baleen whales have no teeth, like the humpback and the blue whale. It seems
that Chiloe has the greatest number of blue whale sightings in the entire southern
hemisphere, and it is believed that it has a population of 300 whales. Toothed
whales have teeth. Like the orca, the beluga, the narwhal and the sperm whale.
The sperm whale is the biggest toothed animal and you can see it in the north of
Chile. You can see the orca at Antarctica that feed on penguins and seals.
