Este problema hizo pensar mucho tiempo Einstein durante sus años
universitarios hasta mudarse finalmente Berna donde trabajando
resolvió este dilema definitivamente. y formuló la teoría de la
relatividad especial en 1905.
I worked really hard to understand Einstein's problem and find a
solution. He realized that the equations of Maxwell, which describe
how light works, only made sense if the speed of light was always
constant. No matter if you're moving towards or away from a beam
of light, it will always travel at 299 792 458 meters per second.
This meant that Einstein could never see static oscillating fields
because he couldn't catch up to a beam of light. It seemed like his
solution had a big problem though! Let me explain: imagine
shooting a beam of light along train tracks while riding on a train
going really fast in the same direction as the beam (about 3200
meters per second). If someone standing by the tracks measured
their speed using standard numbers, they would still get
299 792 458 meters per second!
