la curvatura en un coleóptilo
decapitado, después de colocar
de nuevo el ápice, pero
desplazado respecto a su
posición inicial.
• Esto sucedía en total oscuridad.
• La sustancia estimuladora se
difundía hacia abajo solo por
un lado del coleóptilo.

• En 1926, el fisiólogo
vegetal holandés F. W.
Went consiguió aislar esta
"influencia" de las
plantas.
Experimentos de Went.
• (a) Went cortó los ápices de los coleoptilos y los colocó en agar durante 1 hora.
• (b) El agar era luego cortado en pequeños bloques y cada uno de ellos se
colocaba en un lado de los coleoptilos decapitados de las plántulas.
• (c) Las plántulas, que se mantenían en oscuridad durante la experiencia, se
curvaban entonces hacia el lado opuesto a donde se había colocado el bloque de
agar.
• (d). A partir de estos resultados, Went concluyó que la "influencia" que causaba
la curvatura en la plántula era un compuesto químico y que se acumulaba en el
lado opuesto a la zona iluminada.
• (e) La curvatura es el resultado de la influencia de la hormona auxina. Su efecto
es el de promover el alargamiento celular. En el experimento de Went, las
moléculas de auxina (puntitos rojos) se transfirieron primero al agar y luego,
mediante los cubitos de agar, a un lado del brote de la plántula.
