regular verbs, but the stem of the verb changes on some of the pronouns only.
The pattern of the change resembles a boot, hence the name "boot verb."
e → ie
In this first pattern, the last “e” of the stem changes to an “ie”:
querer
quiero queremos
quieres queréis
quiere quieren
o → ue
In this pattern, the last “o” before the ending changes to “ue”:
almorzar
almuerzo almorzamos
almuerzas almorzáis
almuerza almuerzan
Redes. Tarea 4A. Lección 4 Nombre _________________
e→i
In this pattern, the last “e” before the ending changes to “i”:
pedir
pido pedimos
pides pedís
pide piden
The majority of irregular verbs in the YO form are also called GO verbs because the first person
conjugation ends in GO. These verbs tend to be irregular in other tenses as well. Here are the
most common GO verbs along with their GO conjugation in the YO form.
Other verbs that end in a vowel followed by -cer or -cir undergo a spelling change from c → zc.
This only changes in the YO form.
