Walt Disney nació el 5 de diciembre de 1901,  

fue un productor, director, guionista y

animador estadounidense, con posibles orígenes españoles. Nacido en Chicago, pasó los
años más felices de su infancia en una granja cerca de Marceline (Missouri), hasta que en
1909 su padre enfermó y la familia se trasladó a Kansas City.

Pasados un par de años, Walt, que  ganaba algún dinero vendiendo sus caricaturas, se
matriculó en el Instituto de Arte de Kansas City, donde aprendió las primeras nociones
sobre las técnicas del dibujo. En su adolescencia descubrió el cine, un invento que le
apasionó desde el primer momento. Una vez licenciado, se fue a vivir con su hermano Roy,
donde buscó empleo como dibujante. Encontró trabajo como aprendiz en una agencia de
publicidad, la Pesmen-Rubin Commercial Art Studio y donde conoció a Ubbe Iwerks,
un joven de su misma edad y dotado para el dibujo, con el que entabló amistad y
posteriormente también una relación de negocios.

En 1922 Disney fundó con la yuda de su amigo Ubbe Iwerks la compañía Laugh-O-Gram
Films, con la que realizó exitosos cortometrajes basados en cuentos infantiles. Sin
embargo, los gastos de producción superaban los beneficios y al año siguiente tuvo que
cerrar. Desalentado, Disney se trasladó a Hollywood donde en 1923, comenzó a producir
dibujos animados  junto a su hermano Roy O. Disney llegando al que sería  ni más ni
menos que el ratón Mickey Mouse, que con el tiempo sería el emblema de la llamada
Factoría Disney.

Realizó a continuación su serie de Sinfonías tontas, iniciada con La danza del esqueleto
(1929). En el año 1932, introdujo el color en Árboles y flores, en 1934 creó al pato
Donald y en 1937 realizó el primer largometraje de dibujos animados de la historia,
(Blancanieves y los siete enanitos, al que siguieron Pinocho (1940), Fantasía (1941) y
Bambi 1942).

Durante los años 50 y 60 Walt Disney Productions pasó a ser una de las mayores
productoras cinematográficas, al tiempo que Disney intentaba mantener el mayor control
artístico posible. La compañía abordó la publicación de literatura infantil y cómics, la
mayoría de ellos protagonizados por sus personajes el pato Donald y el perro Pluto.

Posteriormente en el mundo del cine se estrenarían películas como “La isla del tesoro”,
“Robin Hood” o “Mary Poppins”, todas ellas con actores reales. En animación, llegarían
obras inolvidables como “Peter Pan”, “Aladdin”, “El rey león” o “Pocahontas”. Todas estas
creaciones le han llevado a representar la persona que más número de premios Oscar ha
recibido (un total de 32).

Walt Disney murió el 15 de diciembre de 1966 a los 65 años a causa de un cáncer de

pulmón.

Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, was an American producer,

director, screenwriter and animator, with possible Spanish origins. Born
in Chicago, he spent the happiest years of his childhood on a farm near
Marceline (Missouri), until in 1909 his father became ill and the family
moved to Kansas City.

After a couple of years, Walt, who earned some money selling his
cartoons, enrolled at the Kansas City Art Institute, where he learned the
first notions about drawing techniques. In his teens he discovered cinema
and his passion for it .Once graduated, he went to live with his brother
Roy and got a job as a cartoonist in an advertising agency where he met
Ubbe Iwerks (uby aiwors), they shared the same age and passion for

In 1922 Disney founded the company Laugh-O-Gram Films with the help of
his friend Ubbe Iwerks, with which he made successful short films based
on children's stories. However, production costs exceeded the benefits
and the following year had to close. Discouraged, Disney moved to
Hollywood in 1923, he began to produce cartoons with his brother Roy O.
Disney one of them would be the Mickey Mouse, which would eventually be
the emblem of Disney Factory.

He then made his series of Silly Symphonies, initiated with Skeleton

Dance (1929). In 1932, he introduced the color in Trees and flowers, in
1934 he created the Donald Duck and in 1937 he made the first feature
film in history, (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which were followed by
Pinocchio (1940), Fantasy ( 1941) and Bambi 1942).

During the 50s and 60s Walt Disney Productions became one of the largest
film producers, while Disney tried to maintain as much artistic control
as possible. The company addressed the publication of children's
literature and comics, most of them starring Donald Duck and Pluto dog.
Later in the world of cinema, films such as "Treasure Island", "Robin
Hood" or "Mary Poppins" would be released, all of them with real actors.
In animation, unforgettable works such as "Peter Pan", "Aladdin", "The
Lion King" or "Pocahontas" would arrive. All these creations have led him
to represent the person who has received the most Oscar awards (a total
of 32).

Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966 at age 65 due to lung cancer.
