ARTE EN ESCALA URBANA - 2022
Benito Greene Arte Público los invita a participar en la convocatoria de
Arte en Escala Urbana 2022. Pueden participar artistas de todas las
trayectorias, nacionalidades y edades.
SOBRE BENITO GREENE
Benito Greene Arte Público surge en 2019 con el propósito de exhibir
arte contemporáneo en carteleras publicitarias temporalmente vacías
ubicadas en Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, México.
Las carteleras vacías son una parte esencial del paisaje urbano y se ha
decidido aprovechar su notoria presencia para generar una intervención
visual a gran escala estableciendo así nuevos diálogos entre la
ciudadanía y los lenguajes artísticos del presente. Estas intervenciones
contribuyen productivamente a las dinámicas socioculturales actualmente
sucediendo en Ciudad Juárez, una urbe que se define constantemente
por estar ubicada al norte del país en la frontera con Estados Unidos.
Se trata de un territorio híbrido en el cual están presentes no sólo las
tensiones e intercambios entre dos países sino también funciona como
espejo de las problemáticas de otras ciudades fronterizas a nivel global.
Así, Benito Greene Arte Público busca mostrar obras artísticas que
evoquen la experiencia de observar y vivir en las múltiples fronteras
físicas y simbólicas que marca el presente. Por ello, en este proyecto
es fundamental impulsar el trabajo de artistas emergentes de todas las
nacionalidades e interesados en explorar el potencial del arte público.
¿QUIÉN PUEDE SOLICITAR?
Pueden solicitar artistas de todas las trayectorias. Sin embargo se dará
prioridad a artistas emergentes. Para su elección no se considerará
nacionalidad o rango de edad.
¿QUÉ RECIBEN LOS ARTISTAS SELECCIONADOS?
Las y los artistas exhibirán su trabajo en una cartelera publicitaria en calles
importantes de Ciudad Juárez, lo cual posibilita que miles de transeúntes
puedan observar su obra diariamente desde el entorno urbano.
Al colocar obras artísticas en las avenidas más transitadas de la ciudad
buscamos generar nuevos circuitos para el arte y productivos encuentros
entre ciudadanos y artistas. En este sentido, el espacio urbano funciona
como una galería al aire libre en las cuales las obras de arte son percibidas
en movimiento.
Benito Greene promoverá ampliamente las campañas en sus redes
sociales y página web.
LINEAMIENTOS
Fecha límite para la recepción de proyectos: Agosto 30, 2022 antes de las
11:59 PM hora de Ciudad Juárez.
La temática de las obras a proponer por las y los artistas es abierta. Benito
Greene Arte Público permite todas las técnicas artísticas mientras las
obras vengan en un archivo digital que se pueda imprimir e instalar en
una cartelera al aire libre. Las propuestas deben ser trabajos originales y
los y las artistas deben tener los derechos de su obra.
Las dimensiones aproximadas de la cartelera son: 12.7 x 7.8 metros
(ancho x alto). Si bien el formato de la cartelera es rectangular, la obra
que las y los artistas propongan puede o no serlo.
¿CÓMO APLICAR?
Su aplicación debe ser enviada por correo electrónico a:
convocatoria@benitogreene.org especificando en la línea de asunto del
correo: “BGAP 2022 + TU NOMBRE COMPLETO”, y enviarlo antes de la
fecha límite. Las y los postulantes deben enviar su propuesta en un solo
archivo PDF de tamaño total no mayor a 20 MB, que incluya lo siguiente:
• De una a tres imágenes de la propuesta
• Breve descripción de su obra (250 palabras máximo)
• CV y Portafolio con sus obras recientes
SELECCIÓN Y DIFUSIÓN DE LAS OBRAS
La convocatoria de Arte en Escala Urbana 2022 tendrá la presencia de un
Curador Invitado quien junto con el comité de selección de Benito Greene
eligirá las obras a exponer en esta edición. El Curador Invitado para esta
convocatoria será publicado en la página web y redes sociales de Benito
Greene Arte Público.
Los nombres de las y los artistas que resulten seleccionados serán dados
a conocer el día 30 de Septiembre de 2022, o antes. Posteriormente, se
coordinará la entrega de un archivo digital con la imagen en alta resolución
de su pieza a exponer, y una carta de autorización de uso de imagen de
su obra.
Si su obra de arte es seleccionada, Benito Greene Arte Público cubrirá los
gastos de producción de la instalación de la pieza, incluida la impresión,
el montaje y el arrendamiento de la cartelera publicitaria en caso de ser
necesario. La ubicación exacta de la cartelera y la fecha en que será
instalada no se puede determinar con anticipación.

Benito Greene Arte Público invites you to participate in the 2022 open call
Arte en Escala Urbana. Artists of all backgrounds, nationalities and ages
are welcomed to participate.
ABOUT BENITO GREENE
Benito Greene Arte Público emerged in 2019 with the purpose of exhibiting
contemporary art on temporarily empty billboards located in Ciudad
Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Empty billboards are an essential part of the urban landscape and it has
been decided to take advantage of their notorious presence to generate a
large-scale visual intervention, thus establishing new dialogues between
citizens and the artistic languages ​​of the present. These interventions
contribute productively to the sociocultural dynamics currently taking place
in Ciudad Juárez, a city that is constantly defined by being located in the
north of Mexico on the border with the United States. It is a hybrid territory
in which not only tensions and exchanges between two countries are
present, but also works as a mirror of the problems of other border cities
at a global level. Benito Greene Arte Público seeks to show artistic works
that evoke the experience of observing and living in the multiple physical
and symbolic borders that mark the present. Therefore, in this project it is
essential to promote the work of emerging artists of all nationalities and
interested in exploring the potential of public art.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Artists of all backgrounds are invited to submit their work. However, priority
will be given to emerging artists. For the selection process, nationality or
age range will not be considered.
WHAT DO SELECTED ARTISTS RECEIVE?
The artists will exhibit their work on a billboard in important streets of
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico which allows thousands of passersby
to observe their work daily from the urban environment.
By placing artistic works in the busiest avenues of the city, we seek to
generate new circuits for art and productive encounters between citizens
and artists. In this sense, the urban space functions as an open-air gallery
in which works of art are perceived in motion.
Benito Greene will widely promote the campaigns on their social networks
and website.

GUIDELINES
Project submission deadline: August 30, 2022 before 11:59 PM Ciudad
Juárez local time. (GMT-7)
The theme for the proposed artworks is open. Benito Greene Arte Público
allows all artistic techniques as long as the works come in a digital file that
can be printed and installed on an outdoor billboard. Proposals must be
original works and artists must have the rights to their work.
The approximate dimensions of the billboard are: 12.7 x 7.8 meters (width
x height). Although the format of the billboard is rectangular, the work that
the artists propose may or may not be.
HOW TO APPLY?
Your application must be sent by email to: convocatoria@benitogreene.
org specifying in the subject line of the email: “BGAP 2022 + YOUR FULL
NAME”, and send it before the deadline. Applicants must submit their
proposal in a single PDF file with a total size of no more than 20 MB,
including the following:
One to three images of the proposal
Brief description of your work (250 words maximum)
CV and Portfolio with recent works
SELECTION AND DISSEMINATION OF WORKS
The open call for Arte en Escala Urbana 2022 will have the presence of a
Guest Curator who, together with the Benito Greene selection committee,
will choose the works to be exhibited in this edition. The Guest Curator
for this call will be published on the website and social networks of Benito
Greene Arte Público.
The names of the selected artists will be announced on or before
September 30, 2022. Subsequently, the delivery of a digital file will be
coordinated with the high resolution image of the piece to be exhibited,
and a letter of authorization to use the image of the work.
If your work of art is selected, Benito Greene Arte Público will cover the
production costs of the installation of the piece, including the printing,
assembly and rental of the billboard if necessary. The exact location of the
billboard and the date it will be installed cannot be determined in advance.
