Lesson 3: Past Continuous.
The past continuous is made from the past tense of the verb be and the –ing form of a
verb:
Compare: The children did their homework when (= after) I got home.
This use of the past continuous is very common at the beginning of a story:

“We use reported speech when we want to tell someone what others said.
Reported speech is when we tell someone what another person said. To do this, we
can use direct speech or indirect speech. direct speech: 'I work in a bank,' said Daniel.
indirect speech: Daniel said that he worked in a bank.
There are some rules you need to follow, these will be explained down below.
1) Identify the tense and change it into the corresponding one according to the
chart down below.
2) Add a reporting expression e.g He said that, he said, he told me, etc.
3) If it is a question, change its form into the affirmative.
