Life as an immigrant. Where are you from originally? Who? I'm from Vietnam. From New oi. And
when did you move here? I came here after I graduated from college. That was in 1998. And what
do you do now? I work for a communications company. I see. So you're an immigrant to the
United States? That's right. What are some of the difficulties of being an immigrant in the us?

Oh, that's not an easy question to answer. There are so many things. Really, I guess one of the
biggest difficulties is that I don't have any relatives here. I mean, I have a lot of friends, but that's
not the same thing in Vietnam. We visit relatives on holidays and weekends. It's not the same
here. And what do you miss the most from home?

Oh, that's easy. My mom's cooking. There are some great Vietnamese restaurants here, but it's
not the same as my mother's cooking.

I love spring. What's the weather like in Japan in spring? Tekashi, it's really nice. It's sunny and
warm. Sometimes it rains, but the sky is usually clear and blue. It's my favorite season because
everything feels so fresh. Wow, that sounds nice. How about summer? Summer is hot. I like hot
weather, but in Japan, summer is too humid.

I prefer to stay inside and use the air conditioning. That sounds different to summer in the uk.
What's autumn like in Japan? It's better than summer because it's cooler. The air is fresh and it's
often quite wind. And how about winter? Winter is really cold and very dry. Sometimes it snows
too. In the northern parts of Japan, there is often a lot of snow.

Movies. Everybody likes to watch movies. Even those who say that watching movies is a waste of
time. Do that from time to time. Movie is a word used by Americans. Film is a word used by British
people. A lot of movies appear every year. Mostly it's a production of h. Hollywood invented a lot
of movie genres.

Action movies, horror movies, science fiction, westerns, romantic movies, love stories, crime and
detective movies, musicals, thrillers, comedies, et cetera, with such a variety. No wonders that
millions of people all over the world watch movie. As far as I'm concerned, I prefer action movies
because they help me to relax.

During the movie, everyone is running. Something is exploding. Good guys catch. But guys, I love
that. Sometimes when I'm in the mood, I watch romantic movies. I don't like dramas. I prefer
romantic comedies. Because in the end, everybody's happy and beloved people find the way to
each other. Sometimes I may watch some crime movie, but I prefer movies without blood.

That's why I never watch horror movies. They are too gory. They make me feel uncomfortable and
creepy.

Películas de acción, de terror, de ciencia ficción, occidental, películas románticas, historias de

amor, películas policíacas y de detectives, musicales, novelas de suspenso, comedias, etc., con
tanta variedad. No es de extrañar que millones de personas en todo el mundo vean películas. En lo
que a mí respecta, prefiero las películas de acción porque me ayudan a relajarme.

Durante la película, todo el mundo está corriendo. Algo explota. Los buenos atrapan. Pero los
chicos, me encanta eso. A veces, cuando estoy de humor, veo películas románticas. No me gustan
los dramas. Prefiero las comedias románticas. Porque al final, todo el mundo es feliz y la gente
querida encuentra el camino hacia el otro. A veces puedo ver alguna película policíaca, pero
prefiero las películas sin sangre.

Por eso nunca veo películas de terror. Son demasiado sangrientas. Me hacen sentir incómodo y
espeluznante

I'm going to tell you about my family. I live with my little sister, mum, and dad. We live in London,
although I grew up in Lancaster, a beautiful city in the North of England.

My dad's name is Pierre. He's from France, and he speaks English and French. When he was young,
my mother went to France on a student exchange, and they met there. A few years later, my dad
moved to England and married my mum. He works as a French teacher. He's very tall -much taller

Jobs and Professions - Trabajos y profesiones

Teachers, or educational professionals tasked with helping students understand certain

subjects and topics, are especially crucial today. In short, teachers help their students to
become qualified for their future careers.

Doctors, or medical professionals who specialize in providing health-related assistance to

patients, are some of the most respected individuals in America and the world. It's the
responsibility of doctors to help those who feel less-than-stellar to determine the
underlying health issue(s) and recommend an effective treatment (or remedy to a disease,
disorder, or condition).

There are quite a few types of specialty doctors in America (besides MD, which simply
means "medical doctor"), all of whom can be referred to simply as "Doctor (Name)."
Dentists (mouth/teeth doctors), dermatologists (skin doctors), and psychiatrists (mental-
health doctors) are just a few examples of the many different types of doctors.

Additionally, nurses are medical professionals who help to administer doctor-ordered

treatments to patients.

Police officers are law enforcement professionals whose job it is to protect citizens, solve
crimes, and assure that rules and regulations are followed. Similarly, firefighters serve the
public by responding to fires (and other emergency situations) and using high-tech
equipment to extinguish these fires, while bringing any individuals who're in danger to
safety.

Farmers maintain fields of crops (or vegetable/fruit plants) and/or collections of animals
with the intention of selling these products as food.

Chefs/cooks prepare meals in professional settings, including restaurants, cafeterias, and

other venues wherein food and drink are sold, for customers. Chefs are generally
experienced in cooking and managing kitchens.

Waiters bring menus, beverages, meals, and ultimately, the check (or a bill of the foods
and drinks purchased in a transaction) to tables in restaurants and other establishments
that serve food.

Artists produce art, or works of creative significance, including music, paintings, drawings,
poetry, writing, and more.

Frogs in love: Romeo and Juliet

Romeo the frog spent ten years alone in a museum in Bolivia. He is a Sehuencas frog, and for a
long time, scientists at the museum thought that Romeo was the only Sehuencas frog in the world.
A lot of these frogs have died because of deforestation,and a deadly disease has taken the lives of
many others. The scientists wanted to find a mate for Romeo. They even set up a profile for him
on Match.com!

In 2018, some scientists went to the Bolivian forests to look for a partner for Romeo. They looked
in many streams, but they couldn’t find any frogs. They grew tired, wet and disappointed. They
decided to check one more stream before going home. And then, they found a Sehuencas frog
beside a waterfall. This frog was male, but they returned the next day and found four more frogs,
two male and two female. One of the females was the right age to mate. The conservationists
called her Juliet.

The scientists didn’t let Romeo and Juliet meet at first. They needed to check that Juliet didn’t
have a disease. But finally, they put the two frogs together. At first, Romeo seemed nervous, but
soon he swam to Juliet and then he did a funny dance, shaking his toes. Then he put his arms and
legs around her and made a really loud call.

Juliet hasn’t laid any eggs yet, but scientists hope she will. That way, they can learn more about
these frogs and help to protect them in the forest. But they know it won’t be easy. For frogs to
mate, the temperature and the water quality must be perfect. They also only mate when it is
raining, so the scientists had to put special rain equipment in their tank. However, the scientists
aren’t too worried if Romeo and Juliet don’t mate, because they have the four other frogs. And
they are happy that Romeo isn’t lonely any more!

La rana Romeo pasó diez años sola en un museo de Bolivia. Es una rana sehuenca y, durante

Los científicos no dejaron que Romeo y Julieta se encontraran al principio. Necesitaban comprobar
que Julieta no tenía ninguna enfermedad. Pero finalmente, juntaron a las dos ranas. Al principio,
Romeo parecía nervioso, pero pronto nadó hacia Julieta y luego hizo un divertido baile, moviendo
los dedos de los pies. Luego la rodeó con los brazos y las patas y emitió una llamada muy fuerte.

Julieta aún no ha puesto ningún huevo, pero los científicos esperan que lo haga. Así podrán
aprender más sobre estas ranas y ayudar a protegerlas en el bosque. Pero saben que no será fácil.
Para que las ranas se apareen, la temperatura y la calidad del agua deben ser perfectas. Además,
sólo se aparean cuando llueve, por lo que los científicos tuvieron que poner un equipo especial
