WHAT IS WIND ENERGY?

Wind is caused by the uneven heating of the atmosphere by the sun, the irregularities of the
earth's surface, and rotation of the earth. Winds can be classified according to their strength
which are breeze, gale, storm, or hurricane. Humans use this wind flow, or motion energy, for
many purposes: sailing, flying a kite, and even generating electricity. The term "wind energy"
describes the process by which the wind is used to generate mechanical energy or electricity.
Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical energy.

How wind turbines work?

A turbine is a machine powered by rotating blades. A wind turbine works the opposite of a fan.
Instead of using electricity to make wind, like a fan, wind turbines use wind to make electricity.
The wind turns the blades, which spin a shaft, which connects to a generator and makes
electricity.

Using anemometers to test wind potential

An anemometer is a device that is used for measuring wind speed. Anemometers are important
tools for meteorologists, who study weather patterns.

Qué es la energía eólica?

El viento es causado por el calentamiento desigual de la atmósfera por el sol, las irregularidades
de la superficie terrestre y la rotación de la tierra. Los vientos se pueden clasificar según su
fuerza en brisa, vendaval, tormenta o huracán. Los humanos usan este flujo de viento, o energía

Uso de anemómetros para probar el potencial del viento

Un anemómetro es un dispositivo que se utiliza para medir la velocidad del viento. Los
anemómetros son herramientas importantes para los meteorólogos, que estudian los patrones
climáticos.
