QUÉ ES PAST

CONTINUOUS?
El "past continuous" describe acciones o eventos
situados en un tiempo anterior al presente, cuyo
comienzo se sitúa en el pasado y que todavía no ha
concluido en el momento de hablar. Dicho de otro
modo, expresa una acción incompleta o inconclusa
del pasado.

¿PARA QUE SE USA?


1. Expresar acciones o estados que estaban llevándose
a cabo en el pasado cuando otra acción o estado la
interrumpe o refuerza.
2. Ofrecer contexto, es decir, dar información sobre
hechos o situaciones en un tiempo específico.
3. Mencionar dos o más acciones del pasado que
sucedieron al mismo tiempo.

¿CÓMO ES LA ESTRUCTURA GRAMATICAL

CON PRONOMBRES EN SINGULAR Y PLURAL?


AFIRMATIVO
Sujeto + verbo auxiliar (to be) + verbo en
gerundio (ing) + complemento
He was playing the piano when the bell rang
On July 18 we were dancing and singing
Ana was filming a new movie and a short film at
the same time
They were hunting without a license
5 years ago I was practicing English for the
IELTS test

NEGATIVO
Sujeto + verbo auxiliar (to be) + not + verbo en
gerundio (ing) + complemento

INTERROGATIVO
Verbo auxiliar (to be) + sujeto + verbo en
gerundio (ing) + complemento + ?

Was the bird suffering after hitting the
window?
