INTRODUCCIÓN
La guía de aprendizaje fue diseñada en base a las temáticas de la enseñanza del Inglés del grado octavo, se
encuentra divida en tres secciones donde estarán los contenidos y sus respectivas actividades para que el estudiante
las desarrolle desde casa, con la asesoría del docente. Recuerda enviar las evidencias de las actividades según las
fechas establecidas en el cronograma del primer periodo académico.

READING COMPREHENSION – SIMPLE PAST
MARTIN´S VACATION
Martin had a terrible day yesterday. It was the day of his vacation to Spain but it was a nightmare. He
left the house at 10 o´clock in the morning and caught a taxi to the airport.
Martin went to the check – in with his luggage. When the man who worked for
the airline asked for his Passport, Martin became very
upset. Where was his Passport? Martin realized he didn´t have his Passport with him. What a
disaster!
He jumped back into the taxi and told the driver to take him home. The driver drove quickly and
Martin arrived back at his house in twenty minutes.
He ran into the house and went into his bedroom. He found his Passport on the bedside table and
left the house again. But the taxi wasn´t there! Where was the taxi!
Martin jumped up and down angrily. “I don´t believe it. The taxi left” he shouted. He ran down the
street and looked for another taxi.
After a few minutes, Martin found another taxi and told the driver to take him to the airport as
quickly as possible. The traffic on the roads was very bad and, unfortunately, Martin´s taxi arrived
at the airport late. His plane left for Spain at 11:30 and Martin missed it. He was very sad and
went to speak to the airline. They promised to get him a sea ton an evening flight and Martin went
home on another taxi to wait.
COMPREHENSION:

Julia Roberts is one of Hollywood’s most famous stars. Most people recognize her long, curly, red
hair and her wide smile, but she´s well – known for only two or three of her films. Her most
successful film is Pretty Woman, white in 1990.
Julia was born in Georgia, USA, in 1967. Her parents worked in the theatre and both she and her
brother Eric become interested in an acting career. After Julia left school in 1985, she went to New
York and found an agent.
She started her film career in 1986 in a film called Blood Red, but her most important role was in
1989 in Steel Magnolias. She then made Pretty Woman and become a Well – known film star. Her
other successful films are The Pelican Brief (1993) and Notting Hilk (1999). Julia won Golden
Globe awards in 1989 and 1990 for Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman. Julia isn´t married at the
moment. She met and married singer Lyle Lovett in 1993 but the marriage ended in 1995.

LAST SUMMER
I´m Helen, last summer holidays, I went with my family to Paris. We went by car. There was
me my parents, my brother Tom and my little sister Susan. We live in Brighton and we are English.
We saw the most interesting places in Paris, as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and we made
the city tour. I loved it, because Paris is a very beautiful city.
On the fifth day we went to Euro Disney. That was fantastic. We all
enjoyed ourselves a lot. We stayed in Euro Disney four days. They
were the most exciting days I had all my life. We were all very tired
because we had to walk a lot to watch everything and enjoy all the
amusements. My sister is only 4 years old and she loved it. I met all
the Disney Characters and they were very funny. We stayed at a
hotel inside Euro Disney.
