NARRATOR Hansel and Gretel lived in the forest in a tiny cottage with their poor
father, who was a woodcutter, and their evil stepmother.

  IN THE COTTAGE  /  EN LA CABAÑA

FATHER What is wrong with you?

PADRE ¿Qué te ocurre?
STEPMOTHER Now that the children are sleeping, I have to talk to you.
MADRASTRA Ahora que los niños están durmiendo, tengo que hablar contigo.
FATHER About what?
PADRE ¿Sobre qué?
STEPMOTHER We don't have enough food to feed the children. Tomorrow morning w
will take them into the deep woods and will leave them there.
MADRASTRA No tenemos suficiente comida para alimentar a los niños. Mañana por la
mañana los llevaremos al interior del bosque y allí los dejaremos.
FATHER I will not do that to my own children! Do you think that I will leave them
there where they can be in danger?
PADRE ¡No voy a hacer eso con mis propios hijos!.¿Crees acaso que los voy a de
allí donde puedan encontrarse en peligro?
STEPMOTHER Then the four of us will die ... anyway.
MADRASTRA Entonces moriremos los cuatro... de todas formas.
NARRATOR She insisted so much in that idea that the woodcutter finally agreed. B
Hansel and Gretel were not sleeping; they were listening to the whole
conversation.
NARRADOR Ella insistió tanto con esa idea que finalmente el leñador terminó aceptánd
Pero Hansel y Gretel no dormían; estaban escuchando toda la conversació
   
HANSEL Don't cry, little sister. I have an idea to find our way back home.
HANSEL No llores, hermanita. Tengo una idea para encontrar el camino de regreso.

NARRATOR Next morning, when they went into the forest, their stepmother gave e
one of them a piece of bread.
NARRADOR A la mañana siguiente, cuando ingresaron en el bosque, su madrastra le d
cada uno un trozo de pan.

  IN THE DEEP FOREST  /  EN LA ESPESURA DEL BOSQUE

STEPMOTHER Don't eat this bread before lunch, because this is all you are going to
today.
MADRASTRA No coman este pan antes del almuerzo porque esto es todo lo que comerá
en el día de hoy.
HANSEL / GRETEL We won't.
HANSEL / GRETEL No lo haremos.

NARRATOR While they were walking, Hansel was leaving trail of breadcrumbs in
order to find their way back home. And when they reached the deep
forest, their stepmother said to them:
NARRADOR Mientras caminaban Hansel iba arrojando miguitas de pan para encontrar
luego su camino de regreso a la cabaña. Y cuando llegaron a la espesura
bosque su madrastra les dijo:
   
STEPMOTHER Stay here until we come to pick you up.
MADRASTRA Quédense aquí hasta que vengamos a buscarlos.

NARRATOR Hansel and Gretel did as they were told, but then night came.
NARRADOR Hansel y Gretel cumplieron lo que se les había indicado pero se hizo de
noche.
   
HANSEL Come on Gretel, it's time to find our way home.
HANSEL Vamos Gretel, es hora de encontrar nuestro camino a casa.
GRETEL I'll help you find the breadcrumbs.
GRETEL Te ayudaré a encontrar las miguitas de pan.
HANSEL I can't find any!
HANSEL ¡No encuentro ninguna!
GRETEL I knew it! The animals ate them! Now what are we going to do?
GRETEL ¡Lo imaginaba! ¡Las comieron los animales! ¿Qué haremos ahora?
HANSEL We need to find a safe place to stay.
HANSEL Necesitamos encontrar un lugar seguro donde quedarnos.
GRETEL Look! There's a cave over there.
GRETEL ¡Mira! Más allá hay una cueva.
HANSEL Let's go!
HANSEL ¡Vamos!

NARRATOR They stayed in the cave for a few days without eating, until they finally
decided to go out and find some food to eat. So they walked deeper in
the forest when suddenly they saw something in the distance.
NARRADOR Permanecieron sin comer unos días en la cueva hasta que al final decidier
salir a buscar algo para comer. Así fue que se internaron más en el bosque
hasta que, de pronto, observaron algo a lo lejos.
   
GRETEL What is that over there?
GRETEL ¿Qué es eso por allí?
HANSEL It looks like a little house.
HANSEL Parece una casa pequeña.
GRETEL Let's take a closer look.
GRETEL Acerquémonos a ver.

NARRATOR And so they approached the little house.

NARRADOR Y así fue que se acercaron a la pequeña casa.

  AT THE WITCH'S HOUSE  /  EN LA CASA DE LA BRUJA

HANSEL This house is weird. Look Gretel! It's all made up of chocolate, cookie
and bread!
HANSEL Esta casa es extraña. ¡Mira Gretel! ¡Está totalmente hecha de chocolate,
galletitas y pan!
GRETEL And it's delicious!
GRETEL ¡Y es deliciosa!
HANSEL I've never tasted anything like this in my whole life!
HANSEL ¡Jamás probé algo tan exquisito como esto en toda mi vida!

NARRATOR It was then that a witch opened the door.

NARRADOR Fue entonces que una bruja abrió la puerta.
   
WITCH How did you get here, little children?
BRUJA ¿Cómo llegaron hasta aquí, niñitos?
HANSEL We got lost in the forest.
HANSEL Nos perdimos en el bosque.
WITCH Oh, poor of you! Please, come inside.
BRUJA ¡Oh, pobrecitos! Pasen, por favor.
GRETEL No ... I don't think we should.
GRETEL No ... no creo que debamos.
HANSEL Don't worry, she will not harm us.
HANSEL No te preocupes, no nos hará daño.
WITCH Of course not. I am an old, very old lady.
BRUJA Por supuesto que no. Soy una señora anciana, muy anciana.
HANSEL See, Gretel. She is like our grandmother.
HANSEL Mira, Gretel. Ella es como nuestra abuela.
WITCH You can even stay here with me. I live here all alone in the forest. I wil
cook for you, you look so thin and weak.
BRUJA Incluso pueden quedarse aquí conmigo. Vivo sola aquí en el bosque. Les
prepararé comida, se ven tan delgados y débiles.

NARRATOR The two brothers stayed with the witch but Hansel knew deep inside h
that there was something else.
NARRADOR Los dos hermanos se quedaron con la bruja pero Hansel sospechaba que
había algo más.
   
GRETEL What is wrong?
GRETEL ¿Qué ocurre?
HANSEL Why does she care so much about us, if she doesn't even know us?
HANSEL ¿Por qué se interesa tanto por nosotros si ni siquiera nos conoce?
GRETEL And she gives us so much food!
GRETEL ¡Y nos da tanta comida!
HANSEL She wants us to be fat ...
HANSEL Ella quiere engordarnos...
GRETEL To eat us!

GRETEL / HANSEL Oh No!
GRETEL / HANSEL Oh ¡No!

NARRATOR The witch was hiding behind the door listening to every word they sai
NARRADOR La bruja estaba escondida detrás de la puerta escuchando cada una de su
palabras.
   
WITCH You´re right! ... Get in the oven!
BRUJA ¡Tienen razón! ... ¡Métanse en el horno!
GRETEL / HANSEL In the oven? ... It´s too small!
GRETEL / HANSEL ¿En el horno? ... ¡Es demasiado pequeño!
WITCH Of course not, even I fit in it ... look!
BRUJA Por supuesto que no, hasta yo entro en él ... ¡miren!

NARRATOR Then the witch got inside the oven and quickly they shut the door,
leaving her locked inside.
NARRADOR Entonces la bruja se metió en el horno y rápidamente ellos le cerraron la
puerta, dejándola encerrada allí adentro.
   
HANSEL Come on ... run!! ... run!!
HANSEL Vamos ... ¡¡huyamos!! ... ¡¡huyamos!!

NARRATOR They ran outside the house as fast as they could. They walked for two
days until they reached their old house.
NARRADOR Salieron corriendo de la casa con todas sus fuerzas. Caminaron durante d
días hasta llegar a su vieja cabaña.

  IN THE COTTAGE  /  EN LA CABAÑA

HANSEL We are finally home!

HANSEL ¡Finalmente llegamos a casa!

NARRATOR They knocked at the door and their father opened it.
NARRADOR Golpearon la puerta y su padre la abrió.
   
FATHER My dear children!
PADRE ¡Mis hijos queridos!
HANSEL / GRETEL (hugging) Father!!!
HANSEL / GRETEL (abrazándose) ¡¡¡Papá!!!
FATHER My wife died and all this time I have been thinking of you.
PADRE Mi esposa murió y pasé todo el tiempo pensando en ustedes.
HANSEL We missed you!
HANSEL ¡Te extrañábamos!
GRETEL We suffered a lot but we learned to survive by ourselves.
GRETEL Sufrimos mucho pero aprendimos a sobrevivir por nuestros propios medios
FATHER Please forgive me!
PADRE ¡Por favor perdónenme!
HANSEL / GRETEL We love you, there is nothing to forgive!
HANSEL / GRETEL Te amamos, ¡nada hay que perdonar!

MOTHER Granny is ill in bed. Be a good girl and take her some food, will you?
MADRE La abuelita está en cama enferma. Sé una buena niña y llévale algo de comer

RIDING HOOD OK, mum. I’ll go there with my basket.
CAPERUCITA De acuerdo, mami. Allí iré con mi canasta.
MOTHER Here there is a cake, some bread and honey.
MADRE Aquí tienes un pastel, algo de pan y miel.
RIDING HOOD OK, mum. I will follow the path in the woods.
CAPERUCITA De acuerdo, mami. Seguiré el sendero del bosque.
MOTHER Yes. Please go straight to Granny's and don't speak to any strangers!
MADRE Sí. Por favor vete directo a la casa de la abuelita y ¡no hables con ningún extr

NARRATOR Little Red Riding Hood is looking for some flowers for her Granny when s
meets a wolf...
NARRADOR Caperucita está buscando flores para su abuelita cuando se encuentra con un
lobo...

WOLF Where are you going, sweet thing?

LOBO ¿Hacia dónde vas, dulzura?
RIDING HOOD To visit my Granny who is very ill. She lives in the yellow house on the ot
side of the woods.
CAPERUCITA A visitar a mi abuelita que está enferma. Vive en la casa amarilla del otro lado
bosque.
WOLF You don't say! Allow me to escort you. You never know what you may fin
the woods.
LOBO ¡No me digas! Déjame acompañarte. Nunca se sabe que puedes encontrar en
bosque.
RIDING HOOD Thanks! You are very kind, Mr. Wolf.
CAPERUCITA ¡Gracias! Es usted muy amable, Sr. Lobo.
WOLF Oh, look at these pretty flowers here! Why not pick a few. Grannies love
flowers, you know.
LOBO Oh ¡Mira estas hermosas flores! ¿Por qué no recoger algunas? Sabes, a las
abuelas les encantan las flores.
RIDING HOOD Thanks, good idea! I will pick some flowers for Granny.
CAPERUCITA ¡Gracias, buena idea! Recogeré unas flores para abuelita.

NARRATOR But while Little Red Riding Hood was picking a pretty bouquet, the clever
wolf ran to Granny's house and knocked at the door...
NARRADOR Pero mientras Caperucita Roja recogía un hermoso ramo, el hábil lobo corrió a
casa de la abuela y golpeó a su puerta...

GRANNY Who is it?

ABUELITA ¿Quién es?
WOLF It is I, your "delicious"... uhhm darling grand-daughter.
LOBO Soy yo, tu "deliciosa!... uhhm querida nieta.
GRANNY Oh come in, honey. The door is unlocked.
ABUELITA Ah entra, querida. La puerta está sin llave.
WOLF Hello Granny. Surprise!!!!
LOBO Hola abuelita. ¡¡¡¡Sorpresa!!!!
GRANNY Ohhhh! Help!!!! Help!!!!
ABUELITA ¡Ohhhh! ¡¡¡¡Socorro!!!! ¡¡¡¡Socorro!!!!

NARRATOR And the wolf gobbled Granny right up. Then he put on her nightcap and w
to bed. Little Red Riding Hood  knocked at the door...
NARRADOR Pero el lobo se devoró a la abuelita sin vueltas. Luego se puso su gorro de do
y se metió en la cama. Caperucita Roja golpeó a la puerta...

WOLF (There comes my dessert...) Who is it?

LOBO (Ahí llega mi postre...) ¿Quién es?
RIDING HOOD It is I, your little grand-daughter.
CAPERUCITA Soy yo, tu nietecita.
WOLF Come in, darling. The door is unlocked.
LOBO Entra, querida. La puerta está sin llave.
RIDING HOOD Hi! Ohhh, Granny, what big eyes you have!!
CAPERUCITA ¡Hola! Ohhh, abuelita, ¡¡qué ojos tan grandes tienes!!
WOLF The better to see you, my dear.
LOBO Para verte mejor, tesoro.
RIDING HOOD And Granny, what long arms you have!!
CAPERUCITA Y abuelita, ¡¡qué brazos tan largos tienes!!
WOLF The better to hug you, my dear.
LOBO Para abrazarte mejor, tesoro.
RIDING HOOD But Granny, what big teeth you have!!
CAPERUCITA Pero abuelita, ¡¡qué dientes tan grandes tienes!!
WOLF The better TO EAT YOU, my dear!!
LOBO ¡¡Para COMERTE mejor, tesoro!!

NARRATOR And the wolf gobbled Little Red Riding Hood right up. He was so pleased
he fell asleep and started snoring loudly. But a woodcutter passing by wa
alarmed...
NARRADOR Y el lobo se devoró a Caperucita Roja sin vueltas. Estaba tan satisfecho que
pronto se quedó dormido y empezó a roncar ruidosamente. Pero un leñador q
por allí pasaba se alarmó...

WOLF (snoring) Grrrrrrr Grrrrrrr ssss...

LOBO (roncando) Grrrrrrr Grrrrrrr sssss...
WOODCUTTER That doesn't sound like Granny. I will go inside and see what is happenin
LEÑADOR Ese sonido no parece de la abuela. Entraré a ver qué está pasando.

NARRATOR And so the brave woodcutter went inside, killed the sleeping wolf, cut it o
and out jumped Granny and Little Red Riding Hood...
NARRADOR Y así fue que el valiente leñador entró, mató al lobo que dormía, le abrió la pa
y, de un salto, salieron la abuelita y Caperucita Roja...

RIDING HOOD Thank you very much!!

CAPERUCITA ¡¡Muchísimas gracias!!
GRANNY We are ever so grateful!!
ABUELITA ¡¡Le estaremos siempre agradecidas!!
WOODCUTTER That wicked wolf won't trouble you again!!"
LEÑADOR ¡¡Ese malvado lobo no las volverá a molestar!!

NARRATOR Little Red Riding Hood promised never ever to speak to another stranger
and she never did. And they all lived happily ever after.
NARRADOR Caperucita Roja prometió no volver a hablar con extraños nunca más – y no
volvió  a hacerlo. Y todos ellos vivieron para siempre felices.

Riding Hood. I have the impression that you came to the wrong story
Anyway, over there, you will find a little house. Go in there so you ca
escape from your stepmother.
NARRADOR Espera pequeña. Yo soy el narrador y estoy contando la historia de
Caperucita Roja. Tengo la impresión de que has llegado al cuento
equivocado. De todos modos, por allí, encontrarás una casita. Métete ade
así puedes escapar de tu madrasta.

SNOW WHITE Oh thank you! Thanks a lot really! (she knocks at the door many time
BLANCANIEVES Oh ¡gracias¡ ¡Muchas gracias en serio! (golpea la puerta muchas veces).
THREE LITTE PIGS Who's outside making all that noise?
TRES CERDITOS ¿Quién está afuera haciendo semejante ruido?
SNOW WHITE It´s me, Snow White. Please save me, dwarfs. My stepmother is after
(the door opens). But, you are not dwarfs. Who are you?
BLANCANIEVES Soy yo, Blancanieves. Por favor sálvenme, enanitos. Mi madrasta me
persigue. (la puerta se abre). Pero ustedes no son los enanitos. ¿Quiénes
 son?
THREE LITTE PIGS My goodness! We are the Three Little Pigs. We are hiding from the w
Come in, hurry up! Don`t worry, we will protect you from your
stepmother. (suddenly Little Red Riding Hood appears).
TRES CERDITOS ¡Por Dios! Somos los Tres Cerditos. Estamos ocultándonos del lobo feroz
¡Ven, apúrate! No te preocupes, te protegeremos de tu madrasta. (de pron
aparece Caperucita Roja).
RIDING HOOD (singing) Tra-la-la... tra-la-la... I am following the path to my Granny's
house...
CAPERUCITA (canturreando) Tra-la-la... tra-la-la... Sigo el sendero a la casa de mi abue

NARRATOR Hey wait, wait! Don´t you see that it´s not your time to appear on scen
Go back there and wait for your turn. (Little Red Riding Hood walks to
side of the stage). Mmm, where was I? Oh yes, Little Red Riding Hood
was...
NARRADOR Eh ¡espera, espera! ¿No te das cuenta de que no es tu turno para aparec
escena? Regresa allí y espera tu turno. (Caperucita Roja se dirige hacia u
costado del escenario). Mmm ¿por dónde andaba? Ah sí... Caperucita Ro
era...

SPIDER MAN (enters stage yelling) I am so STRONG! So POWERFUL! I am

INVINCIBLE!
HOMBRE ARAÑA (entra al escenario a grito pelado) ¡Soy tan FUERTE! ¡Tan PODEROSO! ¡
INVENCIBLE!

NARRATOR But... again! Everybody is determined to spoil my day! Who are you?
NARRADOR Pero... ¡de nuevo! ¡Todos se han decidido a arruinarme el dia! ¿Quién ere

SPIDER MAN Don't you know me? I am Spider Man, protector of the weak and
unfortunate. I am sure that someone here needs me!
HOMBRE ARAÑA ¿No me conoces? Yo soy el Hombre Araña, protector de los débiles y
desamparados. ¡Estoy seguro que alguien me necesita aquí!

NARRATOR We don`t need you. Can you please leave? (Spider Man leaves sad,
looking for another job). Well, as I was telling you, Little Red Riding H
was a very nice little girl. She was going to take some bread and hon
her grandmother who lived in the woods, when a wolf appeared...
NARRADOR No te necesitamos. ¿Puedes retirarte, por favor? (Spider Man se retira tris
en busca de otro trabajo). Bien, como les estaba diciendo, Caperucita Roj
era una niña muy amable. Estaba llevándole pan y miel a su abuela que v
en el bosque, cuando apareció un lobo...

WOLF Oh, what a pretty girl! Who are you?

LOBO Ah, ¡qué niña más bonita! ¿Quién eres?
RIDING HOOD I am Little Red Riding Hood, but my favorite color es pink. Ha ha ha!!
But... what are you doing here?
CAPERUCITA Soy Caperucita Roja pero mi color predilecto es el rosado. ¡¡Ja ja ja!! Pero
 ¿qué está usted haciendo aquí?
WOLF I am the wolf, but I don`t harm anybody. (They both start a friendly
conversation, when suddenly, Prince Charming appears).
LOBO Soy el lobo pero no le hago daño a nadie. (Ambos comienzan una charla
amistosa cuando, de pronto, aparece el Príncipe Encantado).
PRINCE Please, can you both try on this little crystal shoe?
PRINCIPE Por favor, ¿podrían los dos probarse  este zapatito de cristal?
WOLF & (together) A crystal shoe?!!
RIDING HOOD
LOBO & (a dúo) ¡¡¿Un zapato de cristal?!!
CAPERUCITA
PRINCE Yes. I am looking for Cinderella. And this shoe belongs to her.
PRINCIPE Así es. Estoy buscando a Cenicienta. Y este zapato le pertenece.
SNOW WHITE (arrives excited) I heard that Prince Charming was coming!
BLANCANIEVES (llega alborotada) ¡Escuché que llegó el Príncipe Encantado!
RIDING HOOD (to the wolf) You never know what may happen with "some" characte
CAPERUCITA (al lobo) Nunca se sabe qué puede pasar con "ciertos" personajes.
WOLF You are right, , sweet thing.
LOBO Tienes razón, dulzura.

NARRATOR Well, nobody lets me tell the story. So, I am going to finish it anyway.
When Prince Charming from "Cinderella" saw Snow White, he threw
away the shoe and decided to get married and have a big wedding
celebration. They invited Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, the Three
Little Pigs, Spider Man and the Seven Dwarfs. They all were very hap
especially the Wolf, who was a good wolf because he didn`t want to h
anybody,
NARRADOR En fin, nadie deja que cuente el cuento. Entonces voy a terminarlo como s
Cuando el Príncipe Encantado de "Cenicienta" vio a Blancanieves, tiró el
zapato y decidió casarse y tener una gran fiesta de casamiento. Invitaron
Caperucita Roja, al Lobo, a los Tres Cerditos, al Hombre Araña y a los Sie
Enanitos. Todos ellos fueron muy felices, especialmente el Lobo que era u
lobo bueno porque no queria hacerle daño a nadie.
