Chapter Overview
This book discusses the application of electronics in automobiles from the standpoint of
electronic systems and subsystems. In a sense, the systems approach to describing automotive
electronics is a way of organizing the subject into its component parts based on functional
groups. This chapter will lay the foundation for this discussion by explaining the concepts of
a system and a subsystem and how such systems function and interact with one another. The
means for characterizing the performance of any system will be explained so that the reader
will understand some of the relative benefits and limitations of automotive electronic systems.
This chapter will explain, generally, what a system is and, more precisely, what an electronic
system is. In addition, basic concepts of electronic systems that are applicable to all
automotive electronic systems, such as structure (architecture) and quantitative performance
analysis principles, will be discussed. In the general field of electronic systems (including
automotive systems), there are three major categories of function, including control,
measurement, and communication.

LA ORACIÓN.
Concept of a System
A system is a collection of components that function together to perform (llevar a cabo) a
specific task.
Various systems are encountered (encontrado) in everyday life. It is common (común) practice
to refer to the bones (huesos) of the human body as (como) the skeletal system. The collection
of highways linking the country’s population centers is known as the interstate freeway system.
Electronic systems are similar in the sense that they consist of collections of electronic and
electrical parts interconnected in such a way as to perform a specific function. The
components of an electronic system include transistors, diodes, resistors, and capacitors, as
well as standard electrical parts such as switches and connectors among others. All these
components are interconnected with individual wires or with printed circuit boards. In addition,
many automotive electronic systems incorporate specialized components known as sensors or
actuators that enable the electronic system to interface with the appropriate automotive
mechanical systems. Systems can often be broken down into subsystems. The subsystems
also consist of a number of individual parts.

COMPARATIVOS
est".
Angry / enojado – Angriest
I was the angriest person.
Yo fui la persona más enojada.
Sad / triste – Saddest
Expensive / costoso – Most expensive

Adjetivo Adverbio
Slow- lento Slowly – lentamente
Easy – Fácil Easily – Fácilmente
Simple – simple Simply – Simplemente
Careful – Cuidado Carefully – Cuidadosamente
Natural – natural Naturally – naturalmente
Happy – Feliz Happily – felizmente
Clear – Claro Clearly - Claramente
a toda regla:
Adjetivo Adverbio
Fast – rápido Fast – Rápidamente
Hard – Duro Hard – durante
Good – bueno Well – bien
Ejemplos:
- Suddenly, the lights came back and we could see him perfectly.
- Jane was singing slowly while she was holding her baby carefully.
(Jane estaba cantando suavemente mientras estaba sosteniendo cuidadosamente a su bebé.)

In our last year vacation, we went to Acapulco. Firstly, we went to the airport to buy
our tickets. In there we have some trouble, one lady got really crazy for losing her flight. As
soon as the situation was under control, we bought our tickets for our flight, it leave in three
hours, so we had to wait. Meanwhile we went to eat something in the town. We arrive to the
airport half an hour before our flight left. Next we went to the customs, and a while later we
stand ready to get up the stairs. Just when we were aboarding, someone yelled “Bomb!” and
everyone get off the plane. It was just a false alarm and finally we left an hour later.

de combustible, bomba de combustibley otros;
suministro de combustible a otros elementos combustibles;
MICROMETER
The micrometre (international spelling as used by the International Bureau of Weights and
Measures. SI symbol: μm) or micrometer (American spelling), also commonly known as
a micron, is an SI derived unit of length equalling 1×10−6 metre (SI standard prefix "micro-" =
10−6); that is, one millionth of a metre (or one thousandth of a millimetre, 0.001 mm, or about
0.000039 inch).
The next smallest common SI unit is the nanometre, equivalent to one one-thousandth of a
micrometre, or one billionth of a metre (0.000000001 m).
The micrometre is a common unit of measurement for wavelengths of infrared radiation as well
as sizes of biological cells and bacteria, and for grading wool by the diameter of the fibres. The
width of a single human hair ranges from approximately 20 to 200 μm. The longest human
chromosome is approximately 10 μm in length.
